00:00Prasattu President Muhyiddin Yassin and former Deputy Law Minister Ramkarpal Singh
00:04have both called for an investigation into alleged abuse of power and judicial interference
00:09following a leaked document from a Judicial Appointments Commission meeting.
00:13In a Facebook post, Muhyiddin warned that if the allegations were true,
00:17they could undermine the right to a fair trial and damage public confidence in the judiciary.
00:22The leaked document, purportedly from a May JAC meeting, went viral and suggested that a former
00:28Chief Justice had raised concerns about a judicial candidate's integrity.
00:32The document claimed the judge had attempted to influence a case outcome and sought the
00:36transfer of another judge with a differing opinion. Muhyiddin said such actions, if true,
00:42would breach Section 23-2A of the JAC Act 2009 on judicial integrity. Police have begun investigating
00:49the leak under the Official Secrets Act and two other laws. Ramkarpal urged the Prime Minister
00:54to be extremely cautious in advising the King on judicial appointments and said the judge named
00:59should not be promoted unless cleared by a full investigation. Danesh Rajareza, FMT.
