00:00Congratulations, the first medal of the 20th Island Games for Isle of Man. You must be delighted.
00:06Wow, yeah, absolutely. Over the moon I had no expectations so it's come as a massive surprise.
00:12And let's be honest, it's lovely weather but it's not a great conditions for triathlon, is it?
00:18Well, for us it's quite a bit colder at home than it is here so it did take some getting used to.
00:24But it's been a beautiful week here which was definitely something we didn't expect.
00:29You say you didn't have any expectations going into this. Would you have just been happy with a top ten finish?
00:34Do you know what? I just wanted to get round in one piece. That was definitely my goal.
00:39I've had a great team here so I just wanted to come, have good fun, get round in one piece.
00:45I had no idea where I was on the course against other people so I just did my best and was delighted to come third.
00:51Let's just talk about the event. I've personally, I know you've been to some major championships but I've never seen so many people watching a triathlon.
00:58The atmosphere was tremendous wasn't it?
01:00Yeah, it's incredible. This is my first ever Island Games. It's my first event of this kind.
01:06I've raced a couple of Half Ironmans and a couple of races back home.
01:10So this is, you know, probably the most popular event and most international event I've been to.
01:16The atmosphere is incredible and support along the whole course was absolutely fantastic.
01:21One final question I meant to ask you a bit earlier was, I've never seen the two events at the same time.
01:27So people running while they're cycling. Was that hard for you to sort of get over or is that something you're used to?
01:32Yeah, it's something that you kind of train towards but it is super tough.
01:37Do you know, getting off the bike and this bike course was really hilly and the run course was extra hilly.
01:43So it's really, really tough on the legs but it's something that you really work on and train for and yeah, it takes a little bit of getting used to.
01:51Yeah, well that's you done for the Games isn't it?
01:54So do you get to have a bit of a time off?
01:57Yeah, I can't wait to go and watch a bit of the Athletics this afternoon.
02:01And I hope the rest of the Island Games at Isle of Man Athletes have the best events.
