00:00Great start to the 20th Ireland Games today. You're in orange for the sunshine almost.
00:06Yes, I think so. Isn't it amazing? I mean, I could pretend to you that it's like this all the time, but it really isn't.
00:12I was going to say, I was told it was going to be 13 degrees and I'd probably need a coat.
00:17Did you bring gloves and a really hot and 10 jumpers?
00:22Yeah, Logan and I were struggling with my excess bucket today.
00:25Well, the thing about Orgy is you can get four seasons in the one day and I always say, you know, there's no bad weather, there's just bad clothes.
00:31But this is something else. You know, this really is something else.
00:34Because it was the only thing that was out with everyone's control was the weather.
00:38And it's, you know, Kirsty and her team have done such a great job organising it.
00:41And it's been, it's been incredible. It's just been, there's a lovely, lovely spirit of everybody coming together.
00:48And I know there'll be, you know, there's a competition as well, of course there is.
00:51But I think a lot of friendships will be forged here and that's almost more important than the games, you know, than the sport in a way.
00:58Just as important.
01:00I suppose the obvious question is how and why are you here in Orkney?
01:03Well, I've been coming to Orkney since 85. I absolutely love it.
01:07It's my happy place. I write about it. I've written a book about it.
01:12I don't know. There's just some places in the world that pull you back.
01:15You know, it's not just a matter of, oh, I'd quite like to go back there.
01:19I need to come back. It's almost like I need to recharge my batteries in a way.
01:22And it's just got so much going for it.
01:24And on a day like today and with what I've loved is everybody, you know, all of you that have come from the Isle of Man,
01:30everybody that's come from all over the world are seeing Orkney at our best and that's fantastic.
01:35Well, as you say, you're obviously an Orkney fan. Are you an Island Games fan now?
01:38Yeah, definitely. I mean, it's something I've always followed.
01:41But I think with it happening here in Orkney, it made it even more special.
01:45It's just such a brilliant thing. I mean, it's a big deal.
01:48You know, this is a huge, big deal for Orkney.
01:50I think it's the biggest thing that's ever happened to you as far as a massive event goes.
01:55And I think they've all done incredibly well.
01:57And I'm really looking forward to now that the opening ceremony is over.
02:01We can just get on with the games and enjoy it. It's going to be fantastic.
02:04And looking a bit ahead into the future, 2029, the Isle of Man is hosting the games.
02:08It's coming home. I was going to say, will you come over and see us?
02:11I would love to. Do you know, to my eternal shame, I have not been to the Isle of Man.
02:14Isn't that awful? I've met so many people from the Isle of Man, spoken away to them, talked about it.
02:18My husband's been, he loved it. Why have I not been? What's wrong with me?
02:23You need to come, Lorraine. Yeah.
02:23I know. Well, I'll be there for the games, if not before. That sounds incredible. That's going to be really good.
02:28And finally, my colleague Tom is a massive Coronation Street fan.
02:31And he said, will Lorraine be going to watch the archery? Now she knows Gail Platt's not competing.
02:37Maybe that might be a good idea. Do you remember? Gail Platt shot me in the leg. How rude.
02:42You're walking very well, considering.
02:43I'm doing fine. It's taken a while, but I'm over it. It was more, you know, psychological than anything else.
02:48But that was such a hoot, being part of Corrie. It was wonderful.
02:51But yeah, I'll give the archery a wide berth.
02:53Thank you very much, Lorraine.
02:54Thank you very much.
