00:00The Queensland Government says this commission of inquiry into the CFMEU Queensland branch
00:07would shine a light on a broken system and a culture of intimidation.
00:12Today's announcement comes after a report was released on Wednesday
00:15that revealed allegations of a culture of violence, intimidation, misogyny, bullying
00:20within the Queensland branch.
00:22Some of the most extreme examples found in this report revealed union officials telling people
00:27there's a bullet with your name on it.
00:30The report notes that the investigation only scratched the surface of the violence within the union.
00:36The State Government says this inquiry announced today will have the ability to go deeper into those issues.
00:41Here's what Premier David Crisofulli said earlier this morning.
00:45This is the most powerful tool we as a government have to ensure that what we have seen comes to an end.
00:53The bullying, the intimidation, the standover tactics, the way that women and children have been treated,
01:02workers, a drive to push down productivity in this state, people locked in rooms and intimidated to give an answer
01:14that a militant union wanted.
01:15For too long this kind of evidence has been swept under the carpet.
01:20Excuses have been made for this kind of behaviour.
01:24Sarah, what happens next then?
01:27The Queensland Government says it's still working on the terms of reference,
01:32which will focus on the findings from the report and the history that has led to this.
01:36And in time it will provide details about who will be the Commissioner, who oversees the inquiry and how long it will run for and what it will cost the state.
01:44The Premier says he has the desire for it to start as soon as next month.
