With less than a week until polling day, Labor has officially launched its campaign in Devonport, the home of the Spirit of Tasmania ferries. The party is hoping that after four straight election losses, its focus on health, housing and cost of living will be enough to persuade voters to bring the party in from the political wilderness.

00:00A rock star welcome for a Labor leader still fresh in the job, hoping to offer the state
00:08a fresh start.
00:09My mate, your leader, a wonderful dad and friendly man, the next Premier of the great
00:17state of Tasmania, Dean Winter.
00:21Just over a year ago, Dean Winter became Labor leader, now he's hoping to lead them to victory
00:27after 11 years in the political wilderness.
00:30A tough ask given recent polling shows Labor trailing the Liberals.
00:35A broken health system, a housing crisis, a mountain of debt and record numbers of young
00:40people leaving this state.
00:42Families are struggling and what will four more years of the Liberals achieve?
00:46They've had their chance, they've made their choices.
00:49The unexpected early election largely came about due to the state of the budget, making
00:55the Federal Treasurer's presence rather symbolic.
00:58The Liberal waste, the overruns and the blowouts are costing Tasmanians dearly.
01:04They've added more than $13 billion in Liberal Tasmanian debt, while we've reduced Federal
01:11Liberal debt by $170 billion.
01:14The launch venue overlooks the river where the new spirit of Tasmania period should be
01:19docked, something speakers were happy to highlight.
01:23But Mr Winter's speech didn't dwell on the spirit saga or the state's finances.
01:28Instead, he focused on core Labor issues of health, housing and cost of living, and doubling
01:34down on one of the party's signature policies.
01:37Ten new free doctor clinics right around the state, working hand in hand with the Federal
01:42Labor government, powered by Medicare, will make sure that Tasmanians can access free doctor
01:47appointments no matter where they live.
01:52The Liberals have matched Labor's original commitment to five government-run GP clinics,
01:56but won't match the new promise of ten, calling it a desperate last-ditch campaign con.
02:02At a farm in the state's northeast, the Premier positioned the Liberals as defenders of the
02:08agricultural industry, claiming the Greens plan to force farmers to cut livestock numbers
02:14to reduce emissions.
02:15The Greens, with their policies, will drive up the price of meat and drive up the price of milk
02:24for Tasmanian families.
02:25The Greens deny this, saying their plan is to incentivise farmers to reduce emissions,
02:30which is already state government policy.
