00:00I'll read my question. I'm a bit nervous.
00:10I have been avoiding facing you for a long time because of fear and now I want to face this fear.
00:18There is some deep distrust to let anyone come truly near.
00:23I know that a direct connection with the teacher could help me to get free from suffering.
00:29When there are moments of clarity, I truly feel that the self is marvelous.
00:35That it dwells in all the bodies, but then ego gets afraid also of that and runs away.
00:42So the fear cannot be a master anymore. Could you help me with this? Thank you.
00:59Am I really all that vicious? That really is the answer. Am I really all that horrible?
01:12You?
01:13Yeah. The one you are probably afraid of.
01:19Yeah, that's the answer. That's the answer.
01:25We said thought serves to serve the master.
01:34You could say thought serves to secure the master, right? Protect the master. That's all.
01:42It's a thought that there is something horrible or destructive or extremely unpleasant that could happen.
01:53This thought is not random. This thought is extremely purposeful.
02:01Just that we do not know ourselves, so we do not know where the thought is coming from and hence what is the purpose of that thought.
02:14If the thought says, you know, the teacher or the book or whatever, the process of self-observation.
02:23Oh, these are dangerous things. There might be pain involved. There might be stuff that hurts.
02:35This is what thought suggests, right? Thought is suggesting all that on purpose. And the assigned purpose of thought is just save the master.
02:50Yes.
02:51Save the master. So no thought is random. Though we say that thought proceeds through random associations, fact is thought is never random.
03:02Thought exists to save, secure, defend all falseness.
03:14But here, as you are right in front, there is no space for thought in between.
03:25Or at least the space has been shrunk.
03:32The master has decided to give it a try.
03:37So the servant has been told to wait outside the room.
03:43The master is saying, okay, I am experimenting with something new.
03:46If I need you, I will call you.
03:49And the master discovers in this experiment that the suggestions coming from thought were not all that helpful.
04:06And the observations made by thought were not all that accurate.
04:10Being in touch with the reality can never harm anybody.
04:34Accept that as probably the only principle that needs to be accepted.
04:39We do not need to otherwise live by axioms.
04:42We do not need to otherwise live by axioms.
04:44But take this one.
04:46It never hurt anybody
04:50to know the fact and come to the truth.
04:56Never, never.
04:58Never.
05:01And if thought suggests otherwise, dismiss the servant.
05:09Don't we have all those obsequious ones whose only job is to save their job?
05:18They don't exist to serve even the master.
05:23They exist to secure their jobs.
05:25We have them everywhere.
05:26All departments, all places, all countries I think.
05:31Or do we find them only in India?
05:33Loads of people who exist just to please the boss.
05:46Not even to really serve the boss.
05:48But to just please the boss.
05:53Thought is that kind of a servant.
05:55And the principle is coming face to face with things as they are can never be inauspicious.
06:10Temporarily, a little bit, it might bite, pinch here, bruise there, a little bit.
06:19But that much we can take, you know.
06:22We are not so fragile.
06:27Right?
06:29Whenever there is a trouble, a problem, as you said, loss of clarity and such things.
06:36Ask yourself, how much of it is in the mind?
06:41Will I still be experiencing all these things if I fall asleep this moment?
06:54There is a cloud within.
06:56There is commotion within.
06:57There is chaos.
07:00And all kinds of things are playing out.
07:04They are silly games.
07:05What if I go to sleep this moment?
07:09Would all this still exist?
07:12It's mental.
07:14It's mental.
07:16And if it's mental, can I open my eyes and then open the door?
07:20And walk out into the fresh for a while?
07:22Use this when you know what to use it for.
07:37That's probably a pretty way to put it.
07:43Just because you have a servant, don't keep the poor fellow running around.
07:47Certain people do that.
07:50They say a fellow must justify his salary.
07:55That's like keeping your car on ignition even when you don't have anywhere to go.
08:02Just because the faculty of thought is there, don't keep using it.
08:08When you know what to use it for, then use it on purpose, sharply, precisely, like on a mission.
08:16Go do that.
08:18And then...
08:20And then...
08:22Sit still, sir.
08:24Sit still. That's your job.
08:29Go complete the assignment.
08:32Go fetch the goods.
08:36Go complete this task.
08:38And then...
08:40Sit still.
08:41When you have nothing to do,
08:44that doesn't mean you will just dance or prance around.
08:50When there is nothing to do,
08:52sit still.
08:54And if you can sit still when there is nothing to do,
09:06then you will be excellent when you decide to do.
09:17If excellence eludes thought or action,
09:22one likely reason is that we do not know how to make it sit still.
09:28Think of a runner who is always running.
09:34How will he perform in a race?
09:37How will he perform?
09:39He will perform very badly in the race.
09:42When it will be the real time to run, he will find that he has no energy,
09:52no pace.
09:55No pace.
10:04Am I making sense?
10:06Yes, very much.
10:08Yes.
10:12Thank you so much.
10:13I'm so happy that I got over this fear.
10:17Julius has been pushing me.
10:20I'm also from Finland,
10:22so he has been helping me to just push through this fear.
10:26I'm glad and I'm thankful he has pushed you.
10:31I want him to keep pushing you a little more.
10:39And now when I have
10:44got the guts to come face you,
10:48I want to keep coming again.
10:51So I'm very thankful for your teachings.
10:54All this is making me feel guilty.
11:00I must be communicating a very monstrous persona.
11:07And I'm scaring away people.
11:11It can be a little bit intimidating.
11:13I can understand I have heard this one name of yours, this Ravan.
11:18Ravan.
11:20The roaring one.
11:21But I have started feeling more and more that you are roaring to the ego,
11:30not me.
11:31And it is pure love that you are roaring.
11:34I'm thankful if you can see that.
11:40Thank you so much.
11:41Yeah.
11:43Welcome.
