00:00Meanwhile, results of the latest survey by a major pollster on the impeachment issues have drawn mixed reactions on the numbers.
00:08Though there are more Filipinos who loathe an impeachment trial on the vice president,
00:13House Solons expressed confidence of a turnaround reaction once the trial commences.
00:18Our Mela Les Moras has more on the polls that also show Filipinos do not buy Senate President Escuderos
00:25to run around decisions to stall or even stonewall the proceedings.
00:30House impeachment prosecutor and Batangas 2nd District Representative Jervie Luisto
00:36agrees with the view of many Filipinos that the Senate is allegedly delaying the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:44Based on the latest survey conducted by social weather stations, 44% of the 1,200 respondents agree with the complaint,
00:5225% disagree while 22% are undecided and 9% have little knowledge about the issue.
00:59According to Luisto, this is a clear sign that the impeachment trial should begin the soonest time possible in accordance with the Constitution.
01:07I believe that all Filipinos are waiting, expecting and anticipating na this time around ay matutuloy na ang pinakahihintay nilang impeachment trial.
01:20However, in the same survey, 42% of the respondents said they were actually against the impeachment complaint,
01:26while 32% are supporting it and 18% were undecided and 7% don't know enough.
01:33Luisto asserted that once the trial begins, she is confident that the views of some of Filipinos will still change.
01:40We have ample and strong evidence supporting the seven articles of impeachment.
01:47And we honestly believe once we are allowed to proceed to the presentation of evidence,
01:53a lot of Filipinos will be watching and will be basing their respective position on the evidence that they will be seeing during the trial.
02:02That is why it is very important that we proceed to trial.
02:06Other representatives who support impeachment share the same view on the issue.
02:38Earlier, the Senate Impeachment Court emphasized that they are not ignoring the issue on impeachment.
02:44Meanwhile, Vice President Duterte once again claimed that what is being done to her is allegedly political persecution,
02:50a claim that has been denied by various lawmakers.
02:53Melales Moras from the National TV Network for a New and Better Philippines.
