00:00Raul, yeah, we'll start with you. So there we are, everyone sitting around for a dinner last night at the White House.
00:07And Netanyahu presents his Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
00:12Does Donald Trump stand a chance right now that he could be a Nobel Peace Prize winner?
00:18Well, in my view, and in a short answer, no or not necessarily. But let me break it down.
00:24Now, the official criteria for gaining or being awarded this Nobel Prize is the person who shall have this prize should have done the most or, and I quote for you, by the way, should have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations for the abolition or reduction of standing armies for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.
00:49Now, what that what that means in today's terms, it means that conflict resolution, negotiating peace settlements.
00:57It means also disarmament and anti-war, anti-nuclear initiatives, human rights advocacy, democracy promotion as well, humanitarian aids in war zones like we see in Gaza, combating climate change.
01:14And we know President Trump's stance on that, promoting dialogue and reconciliation in divided societies.
01:21Now, also, there are preconditions for those. The recipient's efforts must promote peace in a nonviolent way.
01:30So therefore, if we take, for example, his achievement in the cease in the Israel-Iran recent war, the 12 day war, what he achieved was basically a ceasefire.
01:42And getting the American military involved directly in the war might be an obstacle because of the, you know, the requirement for a nonviolent promotion of peace.
01:54That's number one. Another problem that they might have that the the work must demonstrate a tangible, lasting impact on peace,
02:04which means a permanent resolution for any conflict.
02:09Now, has President Trump reached that in the Gaza war?
02:14We are talking about still negotiations for a 60 day ceasefire.
02:18So unless there is a complete resolution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the Iranian-Israeli conflict,
02:25because the conflict has not been resolved, the war has stopped, the 12 day war, but the conflict has not been resolved.
02:31So in that case, I don't think so. Some people might argue, but he managed to have, you know, get with with the Abraham Accords.
02:41He managed to normalize relations between Israel and so many Arab states.
02:46But these states were not really at war with Israel.
02:51And we are talking about this is a part of a bigger conflict, which is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is not resolved yet.
02:57So in short, maybe not.
03:00And also, I would like to just add that the fact that Netanyahu was the person who nominated President Trump means nothing.
03:09Anybody can nominate anyone.
03:11And we should not forget that Netanyahu is a politician that is basically there's an arrest warrant against him by the ICC
03:19for crimes against humanity and war crimes as well.
