00:00It was an amazing little party at the White House for lots of people, but just a great 4th of July.
00:07We have some busy things to do tomorrow. We have a pretty busy period of time.
00:12The economy is doing great. The country is doing amazing.
00:18It's on the right track. In fact, right track, wrong track, came out, I guess, the first time in 28 years that they said we're on the right track.
00:25I don't know why it was so long, but we're doing very well.
00:29Anybody have any questions?
00:34Oh, that's terrible. The floods? It's shocking.
00:38They don't know the answer yet as to how many people, but it looks like some young people have died.
00:45Oh, yeah. We'll take care of it. We're working with the governor. We're working with the governor. It's a terrible thing.
00:52What's your reaction to Hamas in response to your peaceful proposal? They said they gave me a positive response.
00:59They said they gave me a positive response? Well, that's good. I've heard that, but they haven't briefed me on it yet. I think they're going to be positive about it. We're going to get, we have to get it over with. Hamas has, we have to get it over with. We have to do something about Gaza.
01:17We've been doing it. You know, we're sending a lot of aid, a lot of money and a lot of aid. Otherwise, you have people in big, big trouble. But yeah, I think it's been very positive. A good response. Yes, please.
01:30Did you sign any letters for your campaign? I did. I signed some letters. And they'll go out on Monday, probably 12.
01:39What do you know? 12 different, well, different, different amounts of money, different amounts of tariffs, and somewhat different statements.
01:48Mr. President, which countries will receive those letters on Monday? You'll be announced. I have to announce it on Monday. I can't do it now.
01:55Mr. President, what do you want to hear from President Prime Minister Netanyahu on Monday when you're meeting?
01:59Well, we're going to have a meeting on Iran, obviously, and, you know, the success. It was a great success.
02:06And blown to pieces, the whole nuclear thing. I would say it's set back permanently. If they were to do it again, they might as well start at a different location, because that location is totally demolished.
02:17They could start, but I would think they'd have to start at a different location. But if they did start, there'd be a problem. We wouldn't allow that to happen.
02:24Mr. President, follow-up. Thank you, Mr. President. Iran does not agree to inspections. Iran does not agree to inspections. Iran does not agree to give up their nuclear enrichment. The ceasefire prematurely.
02:37Well, you're saying they haven't agreed. Let's see what it is. They want to meet with me. So, if they haven't agreed, then we're not going to have a very successful meeting. All right.
02:47Mr. President, are you still optimistic about a Gaza deal next week?
02:53There could be a Gaza deal next week, yeah.
02:55How optimistic are you?
02:56I'm very optimistic, but, you know, look, it changes from day to day. It's been changing for years. It changes.
03:04As I came in, I inherited a very bad situation in many ways, and whether it's 25 million people coming in from prisons, jails, from mental institutions, from gangs, you know, it's, well, that or Gaza.
03:21You could say Gaza. You could say I inherited Iran. We did something about it.
03:26We've gotten a lot of hostages out, as you know, from Gaza. A lot. But, unfortunately, you know, we came into that. We inherited that situation.
03:35Mr. President, can you tell us about your call is the last Tuesday on that way?
03:39Yeah, we had a good call. We talked about different things, and we had a very good call. I think a very, very strategic call.
03:48Are there plans for partnering with Ukraine on munitions?
03:52Well, we've been helping them, and we'll continue to help them. It's a pretty tough situation. We'll see what happens.
03:58I told you I was very unhappy with my call with President Putin. And it just seems like he wants to go all the way and just keep killing people. No good. It's not good. I wasn't happy with it.
04:11Mr. President, are there any updates on the negotiations with the TikTok deal?
04:16Yeah, we're pretty much have a deal. Now we're going to go and ask. I think we're going to start Monday or Tuesday asking and talking to China, perhaps President Xi or one of his representatives. We pretty much have a deal on TikTok.
04:33But we think we probably have to get it approved by China. Not definitely, but probably.
04:40How confident are you that China will agree to that deal?
04:43I'm not confident, but I think so. President Xi and I have a great relationship. And I think it's good for them. I think the deal is good for China. And it's good for us. And for us, it's money. And it's good for us. And for us, it's money. You know, we make a lot of money if the deal goes through.
05:02Are you planning to visit? Are you planning to go to China?
05:05Well, I was asked to go there, yeah. He asked me if I'd go, and he would likewise come here.
05:10Is that true?
05:11We get along very well. We always have gotten along, though.
05:14President, Iran has said that they want to go to the U.S. and have the U.S. force the United States.
05:20It's a damn thing that we're done by the U.S. What is your response to that?
05:24You're going to have to say that again, because you're being blurred out.
05:27But Iran wants to ask the U.S. to force the U.S. to do very big damages that we've done by the strife that the U.S. did.
05:37Well, I think it's pretty ridiculous, yeah. I would say maybe very ridiculous.
05:43Can you tell us about your thoughts?
05:44Mr. President Trump has not agreed to a ceasefire. Do you think he's mocking them?
05:49No, I don't think he is. I think he's worried about sanctions. I do think he's very worried about sanctions.
05:57And, you know, we're determining that the Senate, as you know, has put in big sanctions, very big sanctions.
06:04Do you want to see patriot missiles go with you greatly?
06:07Well, they need them for defense. I mean, they want to β€” I don't want to see people killed.
06:11And he's going to β€” they're going to need them for defense. They're amazingly effective.
06:15You know, we knocked out 14 out of 14. That's pretty amazing.
06:20If you think of it, it's almost incredible. But we knocked out 14 out of 14.
06:25So they're going to need something, because they're being hit pretty hard.
06:29Are you going to send them, though? Are you going to send more?
06:33Yeah, we might. We're looking at it.
06:35On tariffs, Mr. President, why are they only coming into effect in August?
06:40Well, I'd probably start them on August 1st. Well, that's pretty early, right?
06:46I mean, you know, because we're talking about β€”
06:49Yeah.
06:50So when do you think they should come into effect?
06:52Sooner? I don't know how they could be sooner.
06:55We waited about a 90-day period. We probably had 90 days or so.
07:00And really much longer than that, because we've been looking at this for years.
07:05We've been looking at it β€” I've been looking at it for a long time.
07:08I can tell you every single country, and I can tell you every single deficit that we have and they have.
07:14I've been looking at it for many years, frankly.
07:17And I think it's ridiculous that countries were able to get away with so much.
07:21Mr. President?
07:23I had a great call with the German Chancellor. He's a strong guy. Very good man. Had a great victory.
07:33Did you agree with that victory?
07:36No. We did talk about it, though. And he feels, you know, they have to be protected.
07:42He's a strong guy and smart β€” very smart man.
07:46Mr. President, are you confident that you'll be able to find an end to the fighting in Ukraine?
07:51That's an interesting question. We have β€” with India and with Pakistan and Africa, as you know, with the Congo and Rwanda, Serbia, if you β€” you know, Kosovo and so many others.
08:10We've found β€” we've helped Egypt with, as you know, their next-door neighbor, where the water is being taken from the Nile.
08:18We've helped a lot of countries. The Ukraine situation β€” that's a Biden deal. It's not a Trump deal.
08:24I just β€” I'm trying to get it finished off, settled. And we'll see. I don't know. I can't tell you whether or not that's going to happen.
08:31Is it a priority?
08:32Yeah, I'd like to see it happen. I don't want to see 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 soldiers killed every week.
08:39And you have other people. But for the most part, so far, it's been mostly soldiers.
08:44And they're Ukrainian soldiers, and they're also Russian soldiers. But it's 5,000 souls.
08:50And they're being killed every single week. So it's really higher than that now.
08:55Do you expect any trade deals that they get through?
08:58Yeah, I do. I think I'll probably send out 10 or 12 letters.
09:04Mr. President, in addition to the letters, do you think you'll be able to reach deals with the European Union or any of them?
09:10I think the letters are better for us. I've said that all along.
09:13Because you have hundreds of countries. You know, you have over 200 countries.
09:18And you can't sit down with 200 countries. I think the letters are better.
09:23I think a simple tariff is simpler than and better than sitting down and working 15 different things.
09:29You know, with the UK, we did that. And it was great for both parties.
09:33With China, we did that. And I think it's very good for both parties.
09:37We have India coming up. And with Vietnam, we did it.
09:41But it's much easier to send a letter saying, listen, we know we have a certain deficit.
09:49Or to send a letter saying, listen, we know we have a certain deficit.
09:54Or in some cases, a surplus, but not too many.
09:58And this is what you're going to have to pay if you want to do business in the United States.
10:02And it's a tremendous amount of money that would be coming to us.
10:07It's really, by the way, it's a tremendous amount of money.
10:10You see the kind of money already.
10:12You know, we're taking in tariffs now on cars, usually about 25 percent.
10:17Every car that comes into the country is paying about 25 percent.
10:23Lumber, steel, aluminum.
10:27But for the most part, just, I'd say, just a percentage of maybe 15, 20 percent of the ultimate tariff,
10:34which would be over the next few months.
10:36And, you know, we've taken in over $100 million already.
10:40Mr. President, you planned the letter?
10:42It's pretty shocking. So much.
10:44And the other thing that's happening is many countries are moving into the country in order not to pay tariffs.
10:49So they're moving their factory here in order not to pay tariffs.
10:53Mr. President, can you talk about your meeting with the Saudi Defense Minister?
10:56We had a great meeting, a great person.
11:01He was representing, and he had some statements from the king and from the crown prince.
11:08Great people.
11:11They congratulated us on the incredible attack on Iran.
11:15It was an attack on something that you can't have, the nuclear facility.
11:19It's been proven now that it's been totally obliterated.
11:22If they wanted to start, they couldn't start there.
11:25They'd have to start someplace else.
11:27But it was a congratulatory call in many ways.
11:31We talked about trade.
11:33We talked about missile defense.
11:36We talked about airplanes.
11:38They want to buy a lot of airplanes.
11:40Why are you so much tougher on Iran than Russia?
11:43No, I think I'm tougher on Russia than I am on Iran, actually.
11:49If you remember Nord Stream 2, you never heard that term until Trump came along.
11:54Right?
11:55And, you know, I closed it.
11:57And that was the biggest economic development deal they've ever done.
12:00Then Biden opened it, but then it got closed.
12:02But Biden opened it.
12:03No, I think I'm tougher on Russia than I was on almost any other country.
12:06Would you like to see Patrick Reid make the right or come?
12:07Yeah, I think he's great.
12:08Patrick Reid, he's great.
12:09Mr. President, have you threatened Putin with sanctions to him personally?
12:10We talk about sanctions a lot, yeah.
12:11What does he say?
12:12I would say he's not thrilled with it, but, you know, he's been able to handle sanctions.
12:13But these are pretty biting sanctions.
12:14No, we talk about sanctions a lot.
12:15And he understands that it makes sense.
12:16It makes sense.
12:17It makes sense.
12:18It makes sense.
12:19It makes sense.
12:20It makes sense.
12:21It makes sense.
12:22It makes sense.
12:23It makes sense.
12:24It makes sense.
12:25It makes sense.
12:26It makes sense.
12:27It makes sense.
12:28It makes sense.
12:29But, you know, he's been able to handle sanctions.
12:30But these are pretty biting sanctions.
12:32No, we talk about sanctions a lot.
12:34And he understands that it may be coming.
12:37And, you know, he's a professional.
12:39It may be coming.
12:40Yeah, it may be coming.
12:41Sure.
12:42Have you decided on what your next international might be?
12:45With who?
12:46With what?
12:47Have you decided on what your next international might be?
12:50Uh, yeah.
12:52You know, it changes a lot.
12:53We get these emergencies.
12:55I'm putting out fires all over the place.
12:57Talking about my next international trip.
13:00We're putting out fires all over the place.
13:02And so it's, you know, changing.
13:04But we're planning to go to Europe.
13:07We've been invited to Turkey.
13:08I've been invited, frankly, to every country.
13:11And we had a tremendous success in NATO.
13:14As you know, they've agreed to put up more than a trillion dollars.
13:18They took it from 2 percent, but they weren't paying 2 percent.
13:21They were paying less to 5 percent where they're paying.
13:24And that's a big deterrent.
13:26That's a β€” that was a great thing they did.
13:28We have a great β€” I have a great relationship with almost all of the nations.
13:32The Press.
13:33The Press.
13:34Mr. President, your plan to let farmers keep their workers that might not be in the country legally,
13:38would you do that for other industries like coal building?
13:40Yeah, well, we're looking at that right now, and we're going to come out with a statement on it sometime next week.
13:45But we want to have β€” you know, certain industries need help because we don't have enough people.
13:51And we're going to be coming out with a statement fairly soon.
13:55What we are doing is getting all the criminals out of our country.
13:58Thank you very much, everybody.
13:59I hope you had a good time.
14:00And it's been a great β€” I think it's been a great 4th of July.
14:04It's been a great β€” happy 4th of July, everybody.
14:06Thank you very much.
