Speaking to reporters in Bedminster, New Jersey, President Trump discussed the Washington Commanders.

00:02The D.C. City Council has not approved a new stadium for the commanders.

00:07If they don't approve it, will you step in?

00:09Well, we see what happens.

00:10I've been looking at the deal, and, you know, I don't blame them.

00:15They have to—it's a very important piece of property.

00:17It's a great piece of property, so we'll see.

00:20But if I can help them out, I will.

00:21You know, ultimately, we control that.

00:23The federal government ultimately controls it, so we'll see what happens.

00:28I saw the plans.

00:29I saw the stadium.

00:31The owner is very, very successful and a very good man.

00:35I know him a little bit.

00:37And it would be a great place for the NFL to be there, I can tell you that.

00:41So if they want to negotiate a little tough, that's okay with me.

00:44Did you see the commanders change the name back to Redskins?

00:49Well, you want me to make a controversial statement?

00:52I would.

00:54I wouldn't have changed the name.

00:55But that's their—it just doesn't have the same—it doesn't have the same ring to me.
