President Trump speaks to reporters on Air Force One en route to Bedminster, New Jersey.
Transcript
00:00So we visited the military course just to see if we can fix it up and make it nice.
00:10A budgetary situation takes them years to get something approved.
00:14So we're going to take a look at that.
00:16It's two courses, very nice, but they need a lot of work.
00:20A lot of work.
00:21And we can fix them up in the military.
00:24Mr. President, did you speak with the Pelley directly to facilitate the return of a regular plan?
01:02Mr. President, do you have any good way to save money for me to cancel some of Musk's contracts?
01:21How seriously are you considering that?
01:23Well, we'll take a look at everything.
01:24I haven't got everything.
01:25He's got a lot of money.
01:27There's a lot of subsidy.
01:29So we'll take a look at it.
01:30Mr. President, why don't you consider opening, reopening investigations?
01:41It is happening.
01:42There are a bunch of investigations.
01:43I didn't know that they had any money.
01:45They had no phone.
01:46I wouldn't just let them speak for themselves.
01:49Mr. President, do you worry?
01:50Excuse me.
01:51I have no idea what I'm talking about.
01:52Mr. President, I just wish you well.
02:07Yeah, on the China talk, sir, you had this meeting coming up with Secretary Veson, Secretary London.
02:12What do you hope to see from those talks in London, sir?
02:16Well, we're very far advanced in the China deal.
02:19We wanted clarification.
02:20We had to have clarification.
02:22We had to have clarification.
02:26And that's what we're really having to do.
02:28We had a very good talk.
02:29I talked to the President Xi for, I think, more than two hours.
02:32We had a very good talk.
02:34It's a complicated deal.
02:36But it's a deal that brings us a lot of money
02:40and a lot of everything else.
02:42And we get along very well with the presidency and with China.
02:45Mr. President, on the one big deal, Bill.
02:47On Mr. Musk's contracts, do you feel like the U.S. can survive without them?
02:51Obviously, you can do a lot when it comes to defense and space,
02:54and that relationship has been important for quite some time.
02:56Yeah, thank you.
02:57The U.S. can survive without almost anybody.
03:00And do you accept me?
03:02Do you have any concerns about his drug use?
03:05I don't want to comment.
03:09I don't know.
03:10I don't know what his status is.
03:12I thought it was surprising.
03:14It sounded very unfair.
03:16Mr. President.
03:18I don't want to talk about problems.
03:23I think the United States had problems.
03:28I look at the numbers today.
03:29The numbers were unbelievable.
03:30The numbers were incredible.
03:32The numbers that came up today.
03:34The stock market went way up.
03:36The country is doing really well.
03:39Almost, I think, in a very short period of time,
03:41you're going to be, say, doing better than this ever done before.
03:44We have hundreds of plants coming in.
03:46Plants.
03:47A lot of jobs being created.
03:49That's what happened this morning.
03:52It's other jobs.
03:53And the nice part, they're not government jobs.
03:55They're jobs of people coming in and doing other things.
03:58Including the leisure.
03:59Hotel and leisures.
04:00Good stuff.
04:01A lot of good things are happening with our country.
04:04We're taking in billions of dollars of tariff.
04:06Money.
04:07Money is pouring in.
04:08And it hasn't even started yet, really.
04:11The trouble is, we're going to have a very successful country.
04:15Very successful.
04:16The stock market is thinking that we have, and I've been saying it,
04:19we have the hottest country anywhere in the world, the hottest country.
04:24And if you think about it, six months ago, we had the coldest country.
04:27We had a country that was a disaster.
04:29And we've done a very quick one.
04:31Go ahead.
04:32Mr. President, on the one big, beautiful bill,
04:34so your critics, often your critics...
04:38I don't have too many critics, because, you know, honestly,
04:40I don't know of anybody that's going to vote against it.
04:43Maybe Rand Paul or somebody, but they will always vote against it.
04:48But I actually think that over the last 24 hours,
04:52we have tremendous support on the bill.
04:55So just a great example that want to talk about the bill.
04:58They often fail to mention that your tariffs are actually offsetting a lot,
05:02you know, the debt that's up.
05:03I believe the CBO said $2.8 trillion over the next 10 years.
05:07So what do you have to say to that?
05:09Well, we have tremendous reviews.
05:11The CBO, who never gives data, basically it's a Democrat group,
05:15and we're getting tremendous reviews on the bill.
05:18We cut $1.6 trillion — trillion, not million —
05:22trillion out of the budget,
05:24and yet we haven't affected anybody.
05:26We're going to save and totally cherish Social Security,
05:30Medicare and Medicaid.
05:32The Democrats are going to destroy it.
05:33They'll destroy it.
05:34We're going to save it and make it stronger than ever before.
05:37So Medicare and Medicaid, they just make statements.
05:40Oh, he's going to talk.
05:41We're not texting it other than waste, fraud and abuse.
05:45That was my next question.
05:46Mr. President, on Russia and Ukraine,
05:48did the Ukraine drone strikes against the bombers inside Russia,
05:53the airfields,
05:54did that change your view at all of what's with the cards he has?
05:58Well, they gave a reason to go in and bomb the hell out of them last night.
06:02That's the thing I didn't like about it.
06:04When I saw it, I said, here we go.
06:06Now it's going to be a strike.
06:08You know, I did something that people don't talk about
06:11and I don't talk about very much,
06:13but we solved a big problem, a nuclear problem, potentially,
06:16with India and with Pakistan.
06:18And I spoke to Pakistan, I spoke to India,
06:21and they have really great leaders.
06:23But they were going at it,
06:24and they could have gone at it in both nuclear countries,
06:27strong nuclear countries.
06:29And I talked about trade, and I said,
06:31they were throwing bombs at each other and they both stopped.
06:35And I stopped that war immediately.
06:37That was going, as you know, that was going much further.
06:40And hopefully not to nuclear, but it might have gone to nuclear.
06:43In fact, it might have gone to nuclear in the next round,
06:46but we stopped it.
06:47And I'd like to comment the leaders of both Pakistan and India.
06:51Are you worried that they might do a nuclear breakout
06:54which is crushing Ukraine?
06:56Are you worried that not going to nuclear?
06:57I hope not. I hope not.
06:59I think it's a war that would have never happened.
07:02If I'm a president, that wouldn't have happened.
07:04I certainly hope not.
07:05Mr. President, Senator Hawley said he had spoken with you
07:08about potentially removing cuts that were in the House-pass bill
07:12to Medicaid that would hurt Trump voters in rural areas.
07:15What are your thoughts about that?
07:16Well, I did speak about that.
07:18We're really talking about waste, fraud, and abuse.
07:20And Senator Hawley is a great senator.
07:23He's a good guy.
07:24And I did speak to him.
07:25And we want to make sure that doesn't hurt anybody, you know,
07:28because it is about waste, fraud, and abuse.
07:32That's the only thing.
07:33And everybody wants that.
07:34On Russia-Ukraine, where are you at today with the Senate's sanction bills?
07:37There's been some reporting that the White House is, you know,
07:40Well, I know the bill.
07:41I'm certain the bill we're going to see.
07:42I mean, if we're — if I think this — if I think Russia will not be making a deal
07:48or stopping the budget, five and six — I'm going to say five and six,
07:53and now it's more — a thousand a week soldiers being killed — and people being killed,
07:58not just soldiers — people being killed, but largely soldiers being killed — use it if it's necessary.
08:05But are you trying to —
08:06And they really give me that option.
08:07Are you trying to get the Senate to water it down, though, from its current budget?
08:10No, no, I haven't spoken to them about it.
08:12They have a bill that's going to be up to me.
08:14It's my option.
08:15They made it that way.
08:17And it would save a lot of time if that happened.
08:19So I'm okay with it.
08:20Do you think it's the kind of —
08:21I haven't decided to use it.
08:22Mr. President —
08:23It's a very — it's a very strong bill.
08:24Mr. President, you gave Elon Musk when you left the White House a key —
08:27— symbolically — to the White House, to the administration at large.
08:31I think that's what —
08:32Yeah.
08:33Would you like him to give that back?
08:34No, I don't take things back.
08:35What about the Tesla?
08:36I gave him a key.
08:43How do you think his doge did at the end of the new savings that —
08:46Oh, I think it helped us a lot.
08:47I think it helped —
08:48I think it —
08:50We've basically taken it over.
08:53We're doing it.
08:54Those people remain with us, and they're going to remain with us.
08:56It's terrific.
08:57We saved hundreds of billions of dollars.
08:59It's terrific.
09:00And it's going further.
09:01I mean, I'd give you the answer, actually, at the end of two years, because a lot of it
09:03is out into the future.
09:04But it was a big thing, and a good mindset.
09:05And what are you going to do about the Tesla?
09:06Are you going to keep it, or are you going to —
09:07I haven't thought about it.
09:08Do you have any plans to contact —
09:09I hope he does well with Tesla.
09:10Do you have any plans to speak with Mr. Musk?
09:11This was one of your closest advisors for months.
09:12No, I don't have any plans.
09:13Somebody made a mistake.
09:14A lot of reporters have been calling —
09:15I didn't call any reporters.
09:16A lot of reporters have been calling —
09:17I didn't call any reporters.
09:18A lot of reporters have been asking —
09:19No, I'm not even thinking about it.
09:20But there apparently were —
09:21No, I don't —
09:22I'm not even thinking about it.
09:23But there apparently were these efforts —
09:24this is what I read —
09:25to bring you guys —
09:26you and Elon — back together.
09:27So those efforts are —
09:28where are they?
09:29No, no, there are efforts.
09:30I mean, I've been asking —
09:31I've been asking —
09:32I've been calling problems.
09:33So, I don't have any plans.
09:34I don't have any plans to speak with Mr. Musk.
09:35This was one of her closest advisors for months.
09:36No, I don't have any plans.
09:37Somebody made a mistake —
09:38I had a lot of reporters have been calling —
09:39I didn't call any reporter.
09:40A lot of reporters have been calling —
09:41I didn't call any reporter.
09:42A lot of reporters have been asking —
09:43the same question.
09:44No, I'm not even thinking.
09:45The President is a strong political organization.
09:50We've been organizing problems,
09:52including war problems in very faraway lands,
09:54a lot of people being killed.
09:55You know, when I left, we had no problem.
09:57We didn't have wars.
09:58We defeated ISIS 100%.
10:00Iran was broke.
10:02There was no Hamas problem.
10:03There was no Isabel problem.
10:05Israel wouldn't have happened, in other words.
10:07Russia and Ukraine wouldn't have happened.
10:09We had no inflation.
10:10And by the way, we have no inflation now.
10:12inflation now. And if we had a good Fed chairman, you would lower rates. And you know what? If inflation happened a year from now or two years, let him raise rates. But we're going out for long-term debt for short-term debt. We have a lot of debt coming due because Biden had all short-term debt mostly. And we would get a lower rate, a lower interest rate if this guy would lower rates. We had a lower interest rate. It's unbelievable. And he's worried about inflation. If he worries about inflation any longer, all he has to do is get the lower rate, let us go out.
10:42at a much lower rate. Much lower, even without a point to do, we'll go out and borrow them. And if in two years inflation goes back, he raises rates. But he keeps them the same. It's just insane.
10:54Are you already thinking about your next Fed share? Are you already thinking about who your next Fed share would be? I know it's 2026 when his term is rising. So you're already thinking about it.
11:03It's coming out very soon. And who are you thinking about that? I can tell you, but what do you make? I have a pretty good idea.
11:09What do you make of the Ayatollah saying that they have to enrich? They have to be able to enrich?
11:17No, they won't be enriching. If they enrich, then we're going to have to do it the other way.
11:21And I don't really want to do it the other way, but we're going to enrich.
11:24What's your latest? There's not going to be enrichment.
11:26Just one more. And I'll regular, Garcia, sir, because this is a big news for today.
11:29Just months ago, it seemed like from El Salvador to even your administration that there was no chances that he would be returned.
11:35So can you just explain to the American people what sort of happened to facilitate the return of the last few years?
11:40Well, DOJ made a decision. I think their decisions are very, very good.
11:44And maybe they just said, look, all of these people, these judges, they want to try and run the country.
11:50The judges are trying to, a local judge trying to run the country.
11:53The man has done the horrible best. And I could see a decision being made, bring him back, show everybody how horrible this guy is.
12:03And frankly, we have to do something because the judges are trying to take the place of a president, the one on the last side.
12:10And that's not supposed to be the way it is. So I could see bringing him back.
12:14I could see he's a bad guy.
12:20Mr. President, did President Xi agree to restart the flow of rare minerals, the magnets?
12:27Did President Xi agree to restart the flow of magnets?
12:31Yes, he did. Thank you very much.
12:33Thank you so much.
12:45Thanks, guys, for helping me out with us.
12:47Thank you again.
13:02It was very nice to be around with us.
13:04All right, guys, we got proof.
