00:30Hello, everybody. Welcome to Countdown on this Bank Holiday Monday and an extra special welcome to those people watching the nation's greatest game show who'd normally be at work and aren't able to do it. So you get to say hello to Rachel Riley. How are you today? I'm very well, thanks. How are you, Colin? You're looking very Bank Holiday-ish. Well, thank you. I'll take that as a good thing. You're going a day trip in that dress. Do you know what I mean? Go to the beach. Let's go. Okay. Well, I wish we could, but we're here and we're happy to be here. It is all about the viewers. Not all of them.
00:59I want to show you this. It's really special. We get messages all the time on social media from people who watch Countdown. And I got this from Andrew, who is part of the Mountain Rescue Search Dogs.
01:14And it's a really small charity. The vast majority of it is run by volunteers. And he sent me this video of the dog Ace.
01:23And now, when Ace watches Countdown, every time that clock ends, well, he does something extra special at the end of every round. Take a look at this.
01:32Oh, my. Brilliant. I mean, I absolutely love that. I'm not sure if you'd want to sit through Countdown, maybe 15 or so of those oohs at the end, but I absolutely love Ace.
01:54Let's head over to Dictionary Corner. Susie Dent is here with a new member of the letter. Comedian and author and actor. He'll have us howling today. Russell Cain's here.
02:07Wow.
02:08Really good to see you.
02:10Yeah, I did. I like that, yeah.
02:12I've got a pug. They don't do anything, pugs. They're very food motivated, so.
02:15Love it. Well, listen, we've got a top dog. Four wins so far. John Aziz, our Welsh sci-fi writing, music playing, Countdown fanatic, and you're halfway to OctoChamp.
02:27And I know, I'm not just saying it, you know, but it would be a dream for you.
02:31Yeah, it would be a dream. I think I'm going to cry.
02:34Well, listen, we've got a new kid on the block today. When people say to me, Countdown, is that for old people?
02:41I say, think again. It's very much a family affair. Eliza Wajid, just 16 years old. Welcome to Countdown.
02:52So tell me how you've ended up sitting here. Tell me about how much Countdown is in your family all the time.
02:58It started with my granddad, who's been watching it for over 20 years, and which got his kids into it, which is my uncle, my dad, and then me, my cousins.
03:07And my uncle's been on the show, two wins, so I'm going to try my best.
03:13Oh, wow. John and Eliza, good luck today.
03:18Right, listen, his bite is as good as his bark. Let's get on with it.
