00:00Bristol Roar has played their first match of pre-season under Daryl Clark, defeating Chippenham Town, with Clark himself saying it was a good workout to start the new campaign.
00:10Listen, the game was very bitty for me, there's always good bits and lots of things to work on in these sort of games, but we didn't start particularly well the first ten minutes and then we got a foothold in the game, probably should have scored two, three before half-time, they put a few good blocks in, second half is very much a mixed match team, but the pleasing thing for me, got through the period, no injuries, that's really important.
00:40The four lads have played 30 minutes, they've missed a little bit of pre-season, Promise has done a little bit of pre-season, but obviously missed a lot of times last year, so time last season, so we had to protect them a little bit on a difficult surface as well, so yeah, good workout.
00:53Yeah, first pre-season game, is it about building the minutes, building the fitness and building the cohesion as well?
00:57It is, it is and getting those connections, but we're always going to be a little bit bitty today with the changes we made, but it's always nice to win a game, but it's pre-season and the works the boys have put in over the last nine, ten,
01:10days, it's been very good, the atmosphere around the place is really positive.
01:14And Bristol City's Mark Sykes has described the training so far, as the Robins have returned for pre-season, as intense under new head coach Gerhard Struber.
01:24Intense, as we said there before, it's not so much on the lungs, it's a lot of short, sharp stuff where the body hurts after it, but it's been good, and we look ahead to Portugal next week, where I'm sure it'll be a little bit tougher.
01:40And for you, you've been out a little bit with injury, but you're back on the grass now, how was that rehab process and how are you feeling?
01:45Yeah, well, I've probably been out three months now, quite frustrating, but I've been in all summer, working hard, getting back fit, and thankfully, you know, I'm back amongst the group now, and it's a little bit easier than the one-to-one with a physio, so a bit more crack and a bit more atmosphere around the place, which is always nice.
02:04And a new head coach, lots of new faces around the building, how are you all finding that change, and how are you enjoying it?
02:10Yeah, just excited to get going more than anything.
