00:00So, Marianne, you are the most successful rider in the history of the Giro with 32 victories.
00:05Well, where you can collect maybe the victory number 33?
00:09Well, it's not about collecting, I think. It's going to be hard.
00:15And for sure, yeah, we try to take a stage victory.
00:19But I know history doesn't count, so it's new chances every day for everybody.
00:25And yeah, we're going to try.
00:27Looking at today's stage, you're one of the favourites. What do you think about it?
00:31Well, it's a beautiful finish in Africa, I guess.
00:36But it's already a tough finish with a long climb, maybe not the steepest.
00:42But yeah, I expect it's going to hurt.
00:46But yeah, hopefully we'll be there with the team and I'll be there in the mix.
00:51And looking at the GC, do you think that today's stage could help to maybe gain some gaps from the top?
00:58Yeah, I don't know. We'll have to see. Of course, yesterday was the time trial ready. It's a bit of a difference.
01:06But yeah, we'll see if the GC riders want to try to make a difference today.
01:11Thank you so much. Enjoy.
01:13So, Ruth, how do you feel? What do you think about the stage?
01:16Oh, I feel really good. I'm super excited to start the first road race stage of the race.
01:21Yeah.
01:22Last year, we see you with two breakaways during the Giro, so maybe it could be an option also for today.
01:29Yeah, possibly. I think every day is a possible breakaway day. That's definitely my style of racing.
01:34And I hope to get in a few breakaways over the next week.
01:37And looking at the GC, do you think that today we can find some gaps or maybe it's such an easy ride
01:45so we don't have so many gaps in order to the classification?
01:48Yeah, I think that that's the big question right now. I don't know how it's going to be raced.
01:52And we'll see when we get out there. But every day has a chance for some GC action.
01:56And looking at the Giro, what are you most excited for?
01:59I love coming to the Giro every year, honestly. It's beautiful weather and good fans.
02:04And yeah, just looking forward to more of that.
02:06So good luck and thank you.
02:08So Antonia, we know the main goal for you and the team is the GC. So how will you face today's stage?
02:13Yeah, I think today is one of the easiest stages. So I think we have to be patient until the really hard stages.
02:20But for sure we will take the opportunity. We have a lot of good riders in the team.
02:24So I think for sure there will be chances to also maybe win the stage.
02:29And you're so close to some big names. And we know today is important to define more the GC.
02:35Do you feel the pressure?
02:36Yeah, for sure. There's always pressure. But I think we should take it in a positive way and just have fun and enjoy the racing.
02:42And looking about the stage of the day, do you think someone could play an attack? And where?
02:47Yeah, for sure. I think there will be attacks. Like it's the first real stage. So the motivation is high and everyone wants to do something.
02:56But I think we can react on this attacks and maybe even try something.
03:00Thank you. Good luck. Thank you.
03:01So Yara, this is the first Giro for you. And I know you're particularly focused on it.
03:06Actually, this will be my first Giro Italia. So yeah, I'm really excited to race here because the, yeah, the route is really hard and a lot of climbs in it.
03:21And I think it suits me really well. So we will see what's going on in upcoming days.
03:26We constantly see you on the top 10 in the big races. So this is maybe a goal to achieve also for the Giro.
03:33Yeah, true. But we are here with the leader, Palina, and she showed last year that she, yeah, she became fourth last year and 13 to the fans.
03:44But I showed that I'm also in a good shape and I have a bit of a free roll in the team and it's, yeah, I'm really happy with it and it's really nice.
03:52So, yeah, I just want to race every day and give the best I can. And then we will see at the end of the week.
04:01And looking at today's stage, how and your team will you face it?
04:05Yeah, it's just to see if the other teams will go fast on the steep part of the climb.
04:12But I think that the others, like, they will speed up and then we will finish with a small group on the top.
04:20Good luck. Thank you.
04:22So, Monica, you started the Giro yesterday with a great performance. How do you feel?
04:26Yeah, I'm very happy for the result of yesterday. Today is another nice day for me because I will arrive not so far from my home.
04:41So, yeah, I'm happy to start today and I hope to feel good.
04:46Yeah, so what are the emotions to arrive next to your hometown?
04:50Yeah, I'm very, very, I feel very emotional because there will be some, many people on the road and also at the finish line. So, yeah, it's, I don't know, it's like a nice day for me. Yes. And I'm very happy.
05:13And so, talking about emotion, you gained the second place in Darfo Boario Terme next to Elisa Longoborghini. And then yesterday you two were divided for less than 30 seconds. How do you feel?
05:25Yeah, I'm very proud for this, my performance of yesterday. And I know that for now there is a big step to do, but yeah, I hope in many, in some years to arrive at this level.
05:47We hope so. And looking at today's stage, how you and your team will face it?
05:54What, sorry?
05:56Looking at today's stage, how you and your team will face it?
06:00Uh, today I think, uh, just, uh, I want to control the race, uh, and, uh, stay, uh, in front of the peloton, uh, and, uh, yeah, um, ready for, uh, attacks.
06:17Thank you so much.
06:20So, Ashley, I see a declaration of love for the Giro on your Instagram yesterday. So, are you happy to be back, I mean?
06:26I'm very happy to be back at the Giro. Um, as I said in my Instagram, it's a race that I did many, many times in the, in my career, in the, in the first part of my career, it was really part of my progression.
06:37I could measure my progression each time. Um, I finished twice on the podium in second place. I've never won the pink, um, but still, it's an incredibly special race.
06:45And I, I'm really impressed with how the race has evolved over the years. So, um, you know, last time I was here was in 2021 and there were already improvements, but now it's, it's really impressive.
06:54Like the marketing that the race is doing, um, is really great and you can see it. The people are here, they are here to watch and to, um, shout and to, and share all their passion, uh, with us races.
07:05So, I'm really happy to be back.
07:07So, what are your plans for this edition of the Giro?
07:10I want to really enjoy the race. Um, it's coming to the end of, of my career, slowly but surely. So, um, every race I take part in now, it's really about enjoying the moment.
07:19And, um, yeah, starting to pass it on, you know, to the future generations. So, there's less focus on myself now and more focus on, um, on the future, you know.
07:28So, I'm here, of course, as one of the leaders of the team. I have a lot of experience, so I can share that experience, but we also have a strong team.
07:34We have Urske Siegard and, um, Sarah Giganti are also strong, um, options for the GC. So, together we will do the best, uh, result possible as a team for AG Insurance Sudol.
07:44And looking at today's stage, which will be the plan for you and your team?
07:48Today's a, a kind of a strange stage, because, um, it is an uphill finish, but it's not a pure climber's, uh, stage, because, um, it's a more gradual, uh, climb to the finish line.
07:59So, today it will just be about, um, saving energy, being smart, um, making sure that we don't lose any time, um, and, of course, if there's an option to go for a good result in, in the sprint at the end, then we will take it.
