00:00Let's call it what it is. GPS is adding new seats only where it can win, not where they

00:08are actually needed based on voters' numbers. This is gerrymandering the dress up as reform.

00:15I rise today to firmly oppose this bill to increase the number of Sarawak State Assembly

00:23seats from 1982 to 1999. This proposal is not only untimely, it is unfair, unnecessary,

00:34and politically motivated. At a time when many Sarawakins are struggling with the rising

00:40cost of living, inadequate roads, no electricity, no clean water supply, and poor access to basic

00:48services, the GPS government has chosen to prioritise aiding more politicians instead

00:56of addressing the people's real needs. This move does not reflect the Rite Yard's demand.

01:03The people are not asking for more set seats. They are asking for fairer policies, better

01:09governments, and stronger representation, especially at the national level.

01:14Don Speaker, since 1963, Sarawak has already undergone five rounds of seat increases in 1969, 1985,

01:231995, 2005, and 2015. And each time, the outcome has followed the same predictable pattern.

01:31Most new seats were created in rural or semi-rural areas, particularly in zones already dominated by

01:38the ruling coalition Barisan National before and GPS today. This current proposal to create

01:4570 more set seats continues that same pattern. I predict.

01:51Here's the damning truth. After 62 years under Barisan National and now GPS rule,

01:56much of the rural Sarawak is still left behind with no clean water, no reliable electricity,

02:01poor roads, dilapidated schools, under-equipped clinics. This is not just a failure of development,

02:06but more than that, a failure of leadership. If GPS could not deliver meaningful progress with 82 seats

02:13in the last decade, what makes the people think 99 will suddenly do the trick?

02:18Throwing more chairs into this chamber wouldn't fix broken roads or bring clean water to rural homes.

02:24It won't light up schools still without electricity. Sarawak doesn't need more politicians collecting allowances.

02:31Instead, Sarawak needs leaders who are competent, accountable and truly committed to serving the people,

02:37not clinging to power.

02:39Just taking a permit, you're taking the people, not clinging to power.

02:41But that is lowly local Californian, the other can't be beneficial to the people.

02:44So let's start off with logos will be a little bit.

02:45In the meantime, there's nothing more to motorbusters.

02:46So if we can do that, you'll give the people the 문제 that would wind up or be kicked off.

02:48We're willing to keep those people precious things by putting on the wrong side.
