The Umno vice-president says young voters care less about past achievements, and more about integrity, sustainability, and real commitment to their future.
00:00The next general election will be a major test for UMNO on whether it can adapt to meet the expectations of younger voters or risk being left behind, says party vice president Johari Ghani.
00:14He said the party cannot rely solely on its track record that spans over six decades to win support, especially from young voters who now make up nearly 40 percent of the electorate, Hari and Metro reported.
00:26Johari added that young voters evaluate leaders based on their commitment to current and future issues, including environmental concerns and leadership integrity.
00:36He said young voters want to see leaders speak up not just for local issues, but on global challenges, too.
00:43He added that they place strong emphasis on integrity and credibility and want to see how committed a leader is to serving the people.
00:51Johari urged UMNO youth and Putri UMNO to act as a bridge between generations, helping the party reconnect with youth and shape policies that reflect their priorities.
01:01He said young voices must be heard and given space to contribute valuable input to the party's leadership.
