00:00Malay voters, who form nearly 60% of the Sungai Pakap electorate, played a vital role in ensuring
00:08that Perikatan Nasional retained the state seat with a bigger majority.
00:13Some 24,711 voters cast their ballots, which made up 63.45% of the total 39,279 registered
00:23voters in the constituency.
00:26According to PN's internal data, about 70% of the 22,815 Malay voters came out to cast
00:34their ballots, with a majority supporting the opposition.
00:38About 12,776 Malay votes swung in PN's favour.
00:43While Chinese and Indian voters continued to back Pakatan Harapan, they did not come
00:48out in droves.
00:50Fewer than half of the 8,642 Chinese voters went to the polls, while some 58% of the total
00:586,683 Indian electorate voted this time around, resulting in 6,176 non-Malay votes swinging
01:07in PH's favour.
01:09Interestingly, 1,763 non-Malay voters decided to back PN, the data showed.
01:17PN won 7 out of 8 polling districts, doing well in key areas such as Sungai Duri with
01:23a 2,056-vote majority, Padang Lalang and Kampung Besar.
01:29PH maintained a lead only in Puteri Gunung, which is considered a PH stronghold, with
01:34a 369-vote majority.
