00:00The Patna businessman murder case has become a hot-button issue ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
00:12Gopal Khemka was shot dead outside his residence in a posh Patna locality on June 4.
00:16In 2018, his son Gunjan was also shot dead by bike-born assailants over a disputed land deal.
00:21According to reports, the crime is being linked to gangster Ajay Verma,
00:24currently lodged in Patna's Beaud jail.
00:26Verma is set to have had a long-standing land dispute with Gopal Khemka.
00:30On July 5, police conducted a raid inside the jail as part of the investigation.
00:34Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Nitish Kumar and the BJP of making Bihar the crime capital of India.
00:40Meanwhile, NDA ally Chirak Paswan, who just declared his intention to contest the polls,
00:45also criticized the NDA-led Bihar government.
00:47Leader of Opposition Tejas Vyadav, former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad
00:51and Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary also visited the businessman's residence near Gandhi Medan
00:56to express their condolences.
00:58With the Bihar elections approaching, Gopal Khemka's murder carries far more weight than just another murder case.
