00:00Following Monday's blockbuster trade that saw the Pittsburgh Steelers net Jalen Ramsey and
00:04Jonu Smith in exchange for Minka Fitzpatrick, it's become abundantly clear that TJ Watt and
00:09his reps are upset with where they stand on the contract front. So much so that according to
00:13Adam Schefter of ESPN, other teams have come calling to see if they can acquire TJ Watt
00:19from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Look, I fully understand that if you're another NFL GM
00:26and you see the Pittsburgh Steelers trade away Minka Fitzpatrick, you pick up the phone,
00:31you call Omar Khan and you say, hey, what's going on with TJ? I know you guys aren't on the best of
00:35terms right now. What would it take to get him on our team? If you're Omar Khan, you immediately
00:39either laugh that off or you hang up the phone. And obviously that was where all the reports that
00:45came out after is that while, yeah, the Steelers might be taking calls, they have no interest in
00:49trading Watt. But to be frank, that's just common sense. Why would the Pittsburgh Steelers spend
00:53this entire offseason trading for players like DK Metcalf, signing Darius Slay, signing Aaron Rodgers,
01:00trading for Jonu Smith and Jalen Ramsey just to turn around and let go of their best player? It
01:06would make zero sense. It would be the most counterproductive offseason that we have ever
01:10seen. This is a new team. This is a team that believes that they can contend in 2025. So why would
01:16they even consider trading away the one player that moves the needle more than any other? I mean,
01:21we're talking about a team that is one in 10 when TJ Watt doesn't play for them. I understand that,
01:25yeah, he showed up and put up a goose egg against the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs. I understand
01:30he didn't record a sack down the last month of the 2024 regular season. None of that matters. The
01:35Steelers know, TJ Watt knows, his rep knows, they are destined for each other. TJ Watt will retire a
01:41Pittsburgh Steeler. He is a one helmet guy. He wants to be a part of the solution, not the problem
01:47with the Steelers. He's come out and said that multiple times. So I understand that teams have
01:51to come calling when they see such a blockbuster trade, such a trade that the Pittsburgh Steelers
01:55in years past would never make. But the idea that the Steelers would even entertain trading TJ Watt for
02:02anything less than just an asinine offer, I'm talking about two first round picks or more.
02:07It's just hyperbole. It's crazy. The Steelers, they have no interest in trading Watt. Watt has no
02:11interest in going anywhere but Pittsburgh. This is just a matter of contract negotiations
02:16and of Watt wanting to get what he deserves, which I believe will happen in the coming weeks.
