00:00It's a new league year but it's looking like the same old Pittsburgh Steelers.

00:04As their top 2 remaining quarterback options start to be courted by other teams, there's

00:09a real scenario where the Pittsburgh Steelers have a quarterback that nobody wants starting

00:14come week 1.

00:16Hey everyone, Rob Gregson of A-Z Sports Pittsburgh and today we're going to discuss the latest

00:23on the Steelers quarterback situation.

00:26It all starts with Justin Fields, clearly their preferred option when he left in free

00:31agency to join the New York Jets, they turned their attention to Aaron Rodgers and the backup

00:36plan of Russell Wilson.

00:38But here's the problem, Aaron Rodgers has interest from the New York Giants, the Minnesota

00:44Vikings and is even contemplating retirement.

00:47The Steelers have been unable to come to terms on a deal because they are reportedly far

00:53apart on monetary value.

00:55So one would think, ok well what about Russell Wilson if all doesn't work out?

01:00And there's still a chance that Russell Wilson does return.

01:03But here's the problem, they now have competition because Russell Wilson on Wednesday reportedly

01:09has scheduled visits with the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns of all teams.

01:15I mean can you imagine if Russell Wilson joins the Cleveland Browns and Aaron Rodgers goes

01:21to another team or decides to retire.

01:24What do the Pittsburgh Steelers do then?

01:26Unless Omar Khan who's known for being this Khan artist has some other trick up his sleeve

01:32in terms of acquiring a premier talent via a trade or trading up in the draft to get

01:38Shadur Sanders or Cam Ward, this team is doomed before the season even starts.

01:44Aaron Rodgers is their best remaining option, Russell Wilson is their plan C. If both of

01:50those guys are gone, the Steelers front office will have some serious explaining to do.

01:56You just traded for DK Metcalf, gave him a multi-year extension value that over $150

02:03million dollars and you don't even know who the quarterback is going to be that's throwing

02:07him the ball.

02:08I mean this team had the plans that coming in to the legal tampering period they wanted

02:14their quarterback and they would make decisions off of that.

02:16They obviously threw that out the window when they traded for DK Metcalf on Sunday

02:20night before the tampering period on Monday but they still thought they could get something

02:25done with Justin Fields.

02:26Well they didn't.

02:27Now they thought that they could get something done with Aaron Rodgers but they haven't.

02:31And then their final straw, their last plan, they thought well Russell Wilson will just

02:37wait around for us.

02:38But guess what?

02:39He isn't.

02:40So for the Steelers, they better have another trick up their sleeve.

02:45They better have a plan D that might have to be better than all the other plans because

02:50if they don't, their 2025 season is doomed before it even begins.
