00:00Kate Middleton is opening up about life after her health battle.
00:04The Princess of Wales returns to public duties two weeks after pulling out of a scheduled
00:08appearance with a visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex on July 2nd.
00:14While spending time in a newly opened garden for patients and staff, Kate discusses the
00:18hurdles she's faced since completing treatment for breast cancer.
00:22The 43-year-old says, per People, you put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through
00:28treatment.
00:30Treatment's done, then it's like, I can crack on, get back to normal, but actually,
00:35the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.
00:37Kate, who shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis with husband Prince William,
00:44goes on to discuss the importance of having support after treatment, which she says can
00:49be life-changing for one's mental health.
00:51You're not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you're not able to
00:56function normally at home as you perhaps once used to, and actually, someone to help talk
01:02you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment,
01:08I think is really valuable.
01:10Kate adds that navigating life after cancer isn't straightforward, and urges her fellow cancer
01:16survivors to give themselves grace to figure it out.
01:19You have to find your new normal, and that takes time.
01:23And it's a roller coaster, it's not smooth like you expect it to be, but the reality is
01:28you go through hard times.
