00:00How long did you two go without speaking?
00:0128 months.
00:0228 months.
00:03Tell me about the first time you saw each other.
00:05It was surreal, but people have asked, was it weird?
00:09Was it awkward?
00:10It really wasn't.
00:11Because I think for me, I was never away from her
00:14because she was in my spirit the entire time.
00:17I thought of her every second of my day.
00:20And so when I hugged her the first time, it was like I was home.
00:24It was not like I had been missing or I knew I was coming home
00:29to the same woman that I left.
00:30Now, when I say the same, I'm talking about in my heart spiritually.
00:34We have changed.
00:36And if we did not change in these 28 months, it would have been wasted.
00:40I have a dear friend in there who's 77 years old
00:43and that unless God intervenes, she's going to die in there.
00:48I mean, she could be any of our grandmothers.
00:50I mean, and when I tell you the best lady that you would ever, ever meet,
00:56but not just that, there are so many young women
00:58who are young mothers who got these crazy sentences,
01:03never been in trouble in their life.
01:06You know, it's just, I'm not walking away.
01:09That's something I've made to them and to myself.
01:12And I stay in touch with the ones that I've sent out of there before I left.
01:15And I have now gotten on the visitor's list of the ones that I left behind
01:19because those kids deserve a second chance.
01:22You know, you've got kids in prison for selling marijuana,
01:26but now it's almost legalized everywhere.
01:29But yet we don't make that retroactive for these young men.
01:33These young men still have a chance.
01:35They're in their 20s, 33 years old.
01:38Let them come home.
01:39Let them get on a job.
01:40Let them pay taxes.
01:41And if they mess up again, well, listen, the prison doors are wide open.
