00:00New details are emerging about Ann Burrell's cause of death.

00:04Following the Food Network star's passing at the age of 55 on June 17th,

00:09the New York City Police Department is now investigating her death as a possible overdose,

00:14according to documents obtained by the New York Times.

00:17The documents state, per the outlet, that Burrell was, quote,

00:20discovered in the shower unconscious and unresponsive,

00:24surrounded by approximately 100 assorted pills.

00:27The outlet also states that the city's medical examiner shared that an autopsy has been completed,

00:33but the official cause of death is still pending.

00:36E! News has reached out to the NYPD for comment, but has not yet heard back.

00:41In a statement shared with NBC News, police confirmed they were called to an address in Brooklyn,

00:46one that matches Burrell's personal information shortly before 8 a.m.

00:50in response to a report about an unconscious and unresponsive 55-year-old female.

00:55Emergency Medical Services responded, per the statement, and, quote,

00:59pronounced her dead at the scene.

01:02And following Burrell's death, her family praised her as a, quote,

01:05beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.

01:10Sharing in a statement to E! News,

01:11her smile lit up every room she entered.

01:14Ann's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions around the world.

01:18Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.
