Belper Together campaigner Keith Venables opposed to DCC's plan to sell Ada Belfield care home

00:00We've come here today from Belper where there's a superb care home which cost

00:0511.5 million pounds to build. It includes a library and a community cafe and the rest.

00:11It's being put on the market. 11.5 million pounds to build. It does sell

00:17for less than a million pounds, a tremendous loss to the people of Derbyshire.

00:21But more important than that, the residents and those who are there on

00:23respite have lost 40 places if it goes on the market. There's no doubt that it

00:29does go on the market. Those who buy it will be entitled to increase the cost of

00:33it and make the County Council pay money towards that. It's quite a complex

00:37argument but I mean it's important that people in Belper will come here to say

00:41Councillor Josh Barnes, here's the letter which we're going to hand over to

00:49to say why we think you should not put Ada Belfield on the market.
