00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03New data has revealed that Derbyshire Police issued more than 73,000 notices of intended prosecution for speeding in just one year.
00:12The figures, gathered by Legal Expert, a personal injury solicitors firm, show that the force told 73,560 people that they broke the speed limit in the year ending March 2025.
00:23It also revealed the five worst offenders in Derbyshire, with four of them going through roadworks on the M1 between August and December last year, when the motorway speed limit was lowered to 50 miles an hour.
00:35That didn't stop one driver going at 131 miles per hour, which would have been close to double even during the normal 70 miles an hour limit.
00:42Three more people broke the 120 mile per hour mark, putting them well above double the 50 mile limit imposed during the roadworks.
00:49The worst speeding event in Derbyshire was recorded on the A52 in June last year, when a driver was clocked at a staggering 138 miles per hour, which is 88 miles per hour above the speed limit.
01:03An historic lodge in a Derbyshire country park is being sold off by its council owners for auction at £200,000.
01:11Nottingham Lodge, which sits in Shipley Country Park, is a Grade II listed building and was built in 1950 by architect Walper Tapper.
01:19However, the building, which sits between Shipley Hall and Shipley Lake, has fallen into a state of disrepair.
01:24Chris Henning, who is Derbyshire County Council's Executive Director of Place, which includes countryside services, said the authority was disposing of many properties and still owned 127 pieces of land and buildings throughout the department.
01:37He said many of the properties and pieces of land were taken on by the council because nobody wanted them, and include some brownfield and even contaminated plots.
