00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03A man has been jailed after he sent sexually explicit images and messages to a young girl and asked to meet her for sex.
00:10Callum Palfreyman sent the message to the girl, who was aged 13 at the time, on Snapchat,
00:15setting them to auto-delete after being read in an attempt to cover his tracks.
00:19But the incident came to light when the girl told her mum about the messages and the matter was reported to Derbyshire Police.
00:25Palfreyman, of no fixed address, admitted charges of causing and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
00:32and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
00:35The 30-year-old was handed a sentence of three years and nine months in respect of the first offence
00:39and nine months to run concurrently for the second offence.
00:42He was also jailed for ten months to be served consecutively for an unrelated matter,
00:47bringing his total sentence to four years and seven months.
00:50A Derbyshire MP is calling for action after yet another crash along a busy A-road between Chesterfield and Matlock,
00:59the scene of a spate of tragic road deaths in 2023.
01:03Louise Jones, who is MP for North East Derbyshire, issued a statement after another collision on the A632 between Chesterfield and Matlock.
01:10She said,
01:11The Ash River Community Action Group has been campaigning for improved safety measures on the road
01:34following four deaths in the last five months of 2023, including the tragic case of Angela Bayak, 59, and her son Stephen, 22,
01:42who were both killed by an overtaking driver.
