A new MRI and CT scanning unit is proposed for Walton Hospital

under an application by Derbyshire Community Health Services Trust

seeking planning permission from Chesterfield Borough Council.

The plan's single-storey building would replace mobile units at the hospital.

An architect's statement to the council said,

Through the provision of a new MRI and CT unit,

the capacity for Walton's radiology facilities would be increased,

shortening referral times for treatment

and improving both patient and staff well-being.

Detectives have arrested two suspects

after a man was stabbed to death inside a bank in Derbyshire.

The man, who was a customer, was stabbed inside the Lloyds Bank

in St Peter's Street, Derby, at around 2.35pm yesterday.

Aged in his 30s, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whilst formal identification has not yet taken place,

his family have been made aware.

Two men have been arrested

and police say they are treating it as an isolated incident.

However, detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident
