00:00Everton are on the brink of a landmark moment with their opening of the new stadium, offering
00:08the club a unique opportunity to reset and embark on an exciting new chapter. This state-of-the-art
00:14venue isn't just a new home, it symbolises a fresh start and renewed ambition for a club
00:19eager to re-establish itself among the Premier League's upper echelons.
00:25The move promises to boost the club's profile, fan engagement and financial strength, all
00:30crucial elements in building a competitive squad for the future. Beyond the bricks and
00:35mortar, the new stadium represents hope and belief in Everton's long-term vision. As
00:40the club prepares to welcome supporters into its modern fortress, the focus is on blending
00:46this momentum with on-field progress. Everton must harness the energy of this new environment
00:52while managing the pressures of what comes with heightened expectations. We caught up
00:58with Will Rooney of Liverpool World to get his insight on how Everton's new stadium could
01:03reshape the club's fortunes, the challenges ahead and how this fresh start might influence
01:09both recruitment and the team's performances going forward.
01:14Well, let's look at Everton and just on the stadium move again. Obviously, it's had a
01:21bit of a naming right situation as well with the Hill Dickinson Stadium. So it's becoming
01:26a bit more of a clearer image of what the future holds, you know, a massive change for Everton.
01:33And we've spoken before about Goodison and the way that a bit of mediocrity sort of overshadowed
01:38over the last, you know, 20 or so years. You know, it's obviously a fine line and so,
01:44so hard to sort of push on from being, you know, managing to survive and then going further
01:51and further at the Premier League table. But they are seemingly taking the right steps.
01:55You know, David Moyes has really, really come in and took charge and really revived Everton
02:01last season. Just on the stadium, how excited are you to go? How excited are Everton fans to
02:07go? And I'm sure the group of players are as well, and Moyes as well, in terms of this new
02:13modern, you know, technology that everything involved with the stadium, it's all sort of a
02:18positivity for the city as well.
02:20Yeah, and I think it'll drive Everton on and off the pitch, to be honest with you. I mean,
02:27we're talking off the pitch, revenues are going to be boosted markedly, which, unfortunately,
02:33Everton couldn't do much more than they were doing at Goodison Park, just because
02:37of the infrastructure, but they've built a stadium to drive them into the modern era.
02:42And, you know, whether that's inside for your regular punter, your regular matchday goal,
02:50or the hospitality, which the hospitality, that is something that drives the real revenue
02:56on a matchday. The name and right you mentioned, Hill Dickinson, you know, that'll be big for
03:04Everton, multi-million pound deal, long-term deal. And I think it's right that maybe Everton
03:13have had a local company who is sponsoring the stadium. You know, a touch of, I don't want to,
03:21it just seems, it just seems apt, you know, a little bit of Everton are trying to keep roots
03:27to the city and, and rather than going out and maybe getting, look, I don't want, for me
03:35personally, you know, a Qatari away, something like that was mooters, you know, links, just
03:40wouldn't sit right with me. If they can get a good start, then, you know, you're looking at
03:44then two home games, West Ham and Crystal Palace, then can you build a little bit of momentum from
03:50there? Look, Fixtures for me, you've always got to play teams twice, haven't you? But I don't think
03:57when I was assessing them, there wasn't like a real daunting run, like there was that time in, in,
04:02in December for Everton, this, in the latest season, albeit they actually did, is it quite well
04:08and picked up a few points in that period? But, um, for me, you've got to play everyone twice,
04:13haven't you? As much of a cliche it is, or I think Everton, get off to a decent start, build some
04:19momentum, um, get a couple of wins under the belt, because the transfer window, they might be,
04:26uh, the business might go late, um, into the window, and if Everton has a good start, then that
04:34might just give them an extra little, little push, a little boost in terms of attracting players
04:41later on in the window.
