After 133 years at Goodison Park, Everton are preparing to begin a new era at their waterfront home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. Set within a major regeneration zone, the Hill Dickinson Stadium is not just a football venue but a central piece of Liverpool’s waterfront renewal, promising long-term economic and cultural benefits for the city.
00:00After 133 years at Goodison Park, Everton are preparing to begin a new era at their waterfront home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley Moor Dock.
00:12Their final Premier League match at Goodison was a 2-0 win over Southampton on May 18th, marking the end of an era just two miles from where their future now lies.
00:22On June 16th, Everton confirmed that a first senior match at their new ground will be high-profile friendly against Roma on 9 August.
00:31Just days later, the Premier League fixture list revealed that Everton's first competitive game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be on August 23rd against Brighton.
00:40As part of the test event schedule, the club has also arranged a legends match to complete the stadium's official opening programme.
00:48Initially planned with 52,888 seat capacity, it's been reduced slightly to account for segregation, media positions and operational requirements.
01:00Despite the adjustment, the stadium remains the sixth largest in the Premier League.
01:05Everton believe the steep stands and compact layout designed by architects MEIS will preserve the famously intense Goodison atmosphere while honouring Liverpool's Dockland heritage through brick facades and a sweeping barrel roof.
01:21You know, you've got a magnificent state-of-the-art stadium, that's what it's built for, to host those sorts of nights, so that's what I'd be eyeing.
01:30And I don't want to say this season will be a transition because Everton will want to make progress, but maybe the season after then, that's when they'll have a real good go of getting back into Europe.
01:40But David Moyes is ambitious, don't get me wrong, and if Everton were pushing for Europe this season, then it won't be a massive surprise.
01:47On the commercial front, the naming rights were secured in May by local law firm Hill Dickinson.
01:53The company's branding was recently installed across the stadium, including signage on the roof.
01:59Set within a major regeneration zone, the Hill Dickinson Stadium is not just a football venue, but a central piece of Liverpool's waterfront renewal, promising long-term economic and cultural benefits for the city.
