The pitch to American scientists.
Transcript
00:00Science knows no borders.
00:02Right now, Australia is opening its doors
00:05to the brightest minds to shape discoveries
00:08that matter to all of us.
00:09We didn't know much about the research environment
00:11in Australia.
00:12As it turned out, Monash had very little
00:14in my area of research in quantum condensed matter physics.
00:17But the facilities in Australia were absolutely excellent,
00:21better lab space than I had at University of Maryland,
00:24really world class.
00:25It was an opportunity to start something new.
00:28We're partnering with government, business, philanthropy,
00:32and the research sector to create pathways
00:35where extraordinary talent can thrive.
00:37On my first trip to Australia,
00:39we went out to the Parkes telescope.
00:41You're in control of this most powerful radio telescope
00:44in the Southern Hemisphere.
00:45And you're pointing it at the one thing
00:47that you want to look at.
00:49You feel the telescope moving.
00:51It's a full body experience.
00:53Australia's an exciting place to do science.
00:55Australia, where science lives.
