The NSW SES and Bureau of Meteorology provide a weather and emergency update for NSW on July 2, 2025 at 10am.

00:00So what can we expect today? Well heavy rainfall will continue with falls in the
00:0650 to 100 millimetres and in some pockets up to 120 millimetres is
00:12possible. The damaging winds will continue today. 60 to 70 kilometre an hour wind
00:19gusts are possible and in some pockets potentially up to 100 kilometres an hour
00:25in areas around the south coast, mid north coast including the Sydney metropolitan
00:30area. What we do expect is that this situation will start to ease as the
00:36system moves further south and east on Thursday. But we did see conditions
00:43deteriorate overnight. Intense rainfall reached 150 millimetres of rain in some
00:50areas and in the Ulladulla area over 200 millimetres. This intense rainfall is
00:58causing rivers and creeks and inland lakes to rise rapidly. As a result the New South
01:05Wales State Emergency Service has issued seven emergency warnings overnight.
01:11Approximately 335 properties have been impacted by these emergency warnings. In
01:18the very early hours of this morning the SES volunteers and our emergency services
01:24partners door knocked Borelli lakes where over 200 properties were impacted by
01:31flooding, some of them over floor level. We are continuing to assess this damage and
01:37have sent aerial assets, helicopters, our high clearance vehicles and our State
01:44emergency service partners to that area to assist with the damage assessments. Some
01:51areas of Sanctuary Point are also under an emergency warning for flooding and
01:57residents there have been asked to move to higher ground. The entrance north and
02:03Woomborool, at that location there are 35 properties that have been asked to
02:08evacuate and this is due to the coastal erosion occurring in that area. Good
02:15morning everybody. So what we've seen in the last 24 hours has been that low
02:18pressure system rapidly deepen off the central parts of the New South Wales
02:22coast. It is currently still sitting offshore from from the Hunter coast and
02:26what we're seeing at the moment is another trough that has pushed that
02:28rainfall further south towards the south coast. Overnight we saw some fairly intense
02:33rainfall rates in places and that was more so around the Illawarra area and that's where we
02:38picked up about 80 to 120 millimetres over the course of six hours. Now that
02:42kind of rainfall does mean that we see very quick and rapid rises in some of
02:46those creeks and river systems and what we've also seen in the past 24 hours has
02:50been a number of flood warnings being issued. So at the moment there is a flood
02:54warning for minor to moderate flooding on the Hawkesbury-Nepean River where we're
02:58expecting potential for minor flooding at Menangal potentially getting up to
03:02moderate through the afternoon but also minor flooding further downstream at Penrith and
03:07North Richmond. Further south we have also issued a number of flood warnings for the
03:12Shoalhaven River as well as Sussex Inlet and this is one area to keep a close
03:17eye on just because of the rainfall that we have seen overnight and still getting a
03:20feel for how that rain is responding in in the creeks and rivers.
