00:00On Tuesday the Venezuelan government updated on the dismantling of terrorist
00:14plans by the far-right opposition.
00:20Philosophy has strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane of Mexico's southwestern Pacific Coast.
00:30In the United States, after a marathon voting session, the Senate has approved President Donald Trump's
00:35Parliament Tax and Spending Cards bill after a weekend of negotiations and delays.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:00The government of Venezuela revealed Tuesday any conspiracy plot after dismantling a criminal network
01:11linked to the far-right who sought to generate terrorist attacks in the country.
01:15According to the Venezuelan Minister of Interior Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello,
01:20the investigation found unrefutable evidence of the link of the mercenary groups with the far-right.
01:27Cabello also informed that the mercenaries' plan was to take advantage of the conflict between Iran and Israel
01:33and create the matrix of the alleged existence of Iranian missiles in the country
01:39and ask the United States to attack the Bolivarian nation.
01:43Cabello also said that the far-right was currently planning to attack the water and electricity systems in Venezuela.
01:57Cabello pointed out that weapons seized during the dismantling of drug gangs could be used in terrorist attacks.
02:04A large drug trafficking gang has been dismantled, but it was being used for strictly political purposes.
02:15Those weapons were not intended for drug trafficking.
02:21They were intended for terrorist attacks.
02:25The Venezuelan minister indicated that they are working on alerts about the use of explosives in key installations in the country.
02:32We have been working for some time on the alert that we have been warning you about, about the use of explosives for hospitals, embassies, public service sites, and attacks against facilities, for example, to damage a hospital.
02:51It is terrible, but also against people, both leaders of the revolution, and opposition leaders.
02:58And against people, leaders of the revolution, and leaders of the revolution.
03:04Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro accused Monday the United Nations High Commission of Human Rights,
03:09bulk rhetoric of responding to the interests of the U.S. government and its allies against the countries of the global south.
03:16During his weekly television program, Maduro also accused the United Nations officials of ignoring the kidnapping of 252 Venezuelans by the government of El Salvador,
03:26of 18 children by Washington, and the murder of innocent civilians in Palestine.
03:33The Bolivarian head of state also rejected the report issued by the United Nations Office about alleged violations of human rights in Venezuela,
03:41and informed that an international campaign is underway to demand Turks' resignation.
03:46The Attorney General has hit the nail on the head because he has been denouncing the absolute degradation of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights,
04:03an office that belongs to the United Nations system and which has been totally kidnapped, tied up, politicized, and biased by Mr. Bolivar Turk,
04:13who responds to the interests of Washington and the European elites against the peoples of the global south,
04:19against the independent countries, and that he has reached the point of ignoring our specific denunciation that I personally talked to him about,
04:28of the kidnapping of 252 Venezuelans, the kidnapping of 18 Venezuelan boys and girls in the United States,
04:36and he also completely ignores the persecution and kidnapping of thousands of migrants in the United States,
04:43but what is worse, every day he ignores the murder of boys, girls, men and women in Palestine,
04:50the bombing of Lebanon and Syria, the murder of innocent people in the world.
04:57Also for him, those things do not exist.
05:00The only thing that exists for him is the script written and given to him by the State Department in Washington.
05:09In Mexico, President Claudia Sheyman rejected the treatment of detained migrants in the United States,
05:15adding that to migrate is not a crime and that the migrant community is paramount for U.S. economy.
05:22We do not agree with treating migrants as criminals.
05:28A family, a man, a woman, a young person who goes to the United States.
05:40The United States was built by migrants.
05:45It is a country that was built by migrants from many parts of the world.
05:49And furthermore, Latin American migrants, especially Mexicans, are very important to the U.S. economy,
06:02as we have been pointing out here, wanting to label a migrant as a criminal,
06:10or seeking the deportation of millions of migrants, as they say, will affect the U.S. economy,
06:17looking at it from their perspective.
06:21But it is also a complete violation of human rights.
06:27The Mexican government reiterated Tuesday its request for safe conduct on behalf of former Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glass.
06:34In an official communication Tuesday, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said that the diplomatic asylum granted to Glass in April 2024
06:43was under the pro persona principle of the national constitution and under its humanitarian tradition to protect politically persecuted individuals.
06:52The government body urged the Ecuadorian government to respect international commitments
06:57and guarantees the safety and health of the former Vice President while he is being transferred to Mexico or a third country.
07:05Jorge Glass was recently sentenced to 13 years in prison for alleged excessive use of public funds
07:11after serving an eight-year sentence for the so-called Odebrecht case.
07:18And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English,

08:39if strategically distributed while urging the population to be attentive to weather reports
08:45and follow the recommendations to protect their safety.

10:01The National Meteorological Agency declared the highest level of alert in the French capital and 15 other departments
10:08due to temperatures that could reach 41 degrees Celsius in some areas.
10:12Authorities also ordered the total or partial closure of almost 1,350 schools
10:19and imposed significant restrictions on the circulation of polluting vehicles.
10:25Forecasts indicate that the heat will peak in the middle of the week with dangerous temperatures throughout the country.
10:32The heat wave has also brought record temperatures to Spain and Portugal and caused fires in Italy and Turkey.
10:40In the United States, after a marathon voting session, the Senate approved on Tuesday
10:55President Donald Trump's polemic tax and spending cards bill.
10:59After a weekend of negotiations and delays, Senate Republicans passed the bill with a narrow 50 to 51 vote broken by Vice President J.D. Vance,
11:09pushing past opposition from Democrats.
11:12The so-called One Big Beautiful Bill would add $3.3 trillion to the public debt within 10 years,
11:20according to the Congressional Budget Office .
11:23In addition, the authority informed 12 million people could lose their health insurance by 2034
11:30with an initiative which would cut $1.1 trillion in public health policies.
11:36The legislation, which also includes increased funding for defense and immigration enforcement,
11:42will now return to the House, where its passage remains to be debated.
11:52As part of his aggressive policies against migration, the President of the United States, Donald Trump,
11:57visited alligator Alcatraz and announced the reopening of the detention center to house undocumented immigrants.
12:05On Tuesday, the U.S. President opened an immigration detention center in the Everglades,
12:11nicknamed alligator Alcatraz, in the state of Florida as he urged legislators to pass a bill to increase deportations.
12:19According to the head of state, the migrant detention center is indeed surrounded by alligators, crocodiles and pythons.
12:27The bill highlights the White House's actions against the thousands of foreigners residing in the North American country.
12:34The President of the United States, Donald Trump, signed a national security presidential memorandum,
12:46intensifying unilateral coercive measures against Cuba.
12:50The presidential memorandum seeks to further restrict Cuba's access to medical supplies and economic resources in a cruel act against the country.
12:59Additionally, the major aims to end economic practices set to disproportionality benefit the Cuban government.
13:06This will directly impact the army intelligence and security agencies, as well as other Cuban institutions,
13:14by imposing new obstacles to obtaining the resources needed to protect and support the population.
13:21Trump has also recently implemented a new travel ban for the U.S. citizens that applies to Cuba.
13:34On his ex-account, Cuban President Emil Diaz-Canel denounced his recent U.S. governmental actions,
13:39noting Washington was activating a new aggressive plan against Cuba to tighten up the blockade.
13:46On his social media ex-the head of state expressed the United States pursue a new aggressive plan against Cuba,
13:56responding to narrow and unrepresentative interests of the majority in that country.
14:03It further heightens the economic blockade.
14:05The goal? To cause the greatest damage and suffering possible to the people.
14:10The impact will be felt, but we will not bend.
14:14In this context, the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez further denounced that the presidential memorandum signed by Donald Trump
14:29reinforces the policy of aggression and causes harmful defects for the entire Cuban population.
14:35On his ex-account, the head of Cuban diplomacy posted,
14:39the presidential memorandum against Cuba released today by the U.S. government strengthens the aggression and economic blockade
14:47that punishes the entire Cuban people and it is the main obstacle to our development.
14:52It is a criminal behavior which violates the human rights of an entire nation.
14:57The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejected the new presidential memorandum issued by the U.S. government against the Republic of Cuba.
15:14In a statement, the Foreign Ministry explained that the memorandum deepens the criminal economic, financial and commercial blockade
15:22that for more than six decades has sought unsuccessfully to subjugate a dignified and sovereign people.
15:30The statement added that this anachronistic, inhumane policy which violates international law has been one of the most obvious historical failures of U.S. foreign policy.
15:41It is an aggression that serves the interests of an insecure political class trapped in its visceral hatred of a free and sovereign nation like Cuba.
15:52The Bolivarian government expresses its strongest solidarity with the people and government of the Sister Republic of Cuba,
15:59confident that it will resist with dignity, creativity and courage.
16:04This new attack, like all previous ones, will also fail.

16:40Welcome back to From the South.
16:42In Panama, shortly before the start of the second period of ordinary sessions at the National Assembly,
16:48access to the Justo Arrozamena Palace was once again surrounded by perimeter of fences and condemned practice that had been discontinued in previous legislatures.
16:59The return of the metal fences has generated negative reactions on Monday when deputies from various benches,
17:05including Grace Hernandez and Ernesto Sadegna of the Otro Camino movement, as well as independent legislator Beth Sadell Richards,
17:14spoke out against the Major.
17:16The President of the Legislative Party, Dana Castañeda of the ruling party, Realizando Metas,
17:21also expressed her disagreement assuring the offences were not requested by the legislature.
17:27The assembly begins a new legislative period on Tuesday amid continued actions against Law 462,
17:34which reformed the Social Security Fund.
17:45In Guatemala, relatives of the more than 45,000 victims of enforced disappearance march for truth and justice,
17:52demanding access to military archives and approval of Law 3590 for an exhaustive surge.
17:59Our correspondent, Santiago BotĂłn, gives us the details.
18:04The shadow of forced disappearances persists in the country.
18:10Children and survivors of more than 45,000 victims demand that the government open files and military detachments to find their family members.
18:18Because there is where some of the disappeared detainees are located.
18:24However, unfortunately, the current government continues with the same policy as the others of not listening to the victims,
18:30to the survivors of the genocide who continue to demand justice.
18:33They say the crime was atrocious and massive, more than 45,000 people, 74% of them indigenous Mayans, disappeared due to state terror.
18:47Three decades later, only 3,800 victims have been recovered and identified.
18:52Not only do we want Law 3590 to be approved, now we are waiting for the national plan for the search for detained and disappeared persons to be approved.
19:03For the search commission to be formed with the participation of family members,
19:07and for us to be allowed to go and look for them in military facilities.
19:11Every June 30, the call for justice resounds loudly as we commemorate our heroes and martyrs.
19:21This date, which replaced Army Day, serves as an unbroken reminder that without memory, there is no justice.
19:26By demanding memory and dignity, we have achieved that this parade, which demands the rights of a class,
19:35an elite that has subdued the Gatmalan people has been removed from these streets that belong to us.
19:41The streets belong to the people to demand their struggles and rights.
19:48For the survivors, the state not only fails the victims, but its silence in the face of genocide such as that in Palestine reveals complicity with the governments that perpetuate it.
20:00All our solidarity with the Palestinians and the Gazans from Guatemala, a solidarity hug.
20:07This march is not just a demand for the past, it is a demand for a future where no citizen of our country or human being in the world
20:17is erased by state power when demanding a life of dignity and unalienable rights.
20:22Santiago BotĂłn, Telesur, Ciudad de Guatemala.
20:35On Tuesday, the leader of the Lujansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasashnik, confirmed that the Russian Armed Forces had seized control of the entire area.
20:44The regional head's confirmation has been backed up by local media, who have reiterated that 100% of the Republic is now free of Ukrainian military units.
20:54Pasashnik explained that the offensive in the Donbass region has intensified since August 6, 2024, when Ukrainian forces invaded the Kruks region.
21:05In March of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that Russian forces control 99% of the territory.
21:12On Tuesday, following the elimination of dozens of Ukrainian soldiers in the area, it was confirmed that Russia now has full control of Lujansk.
21:21The International Conference on Financing for Development continues in the city of Sevilla, Spain, as participants work on a final declaration to deliver on goals that reinforce multilateralism.
21:42According to the programme, part of the aim of the conference is to give a boost to the 2030 agenda as a commitment of global leaders to eradicate hunger, reduce inequality and mitigate climate change.
21:55The fourth conference features several side event programmes and discussions such as the development of rural women, innovative perspectives and challenges of financial instruments and taxing the super-rich.
22:09In this context, Spain proposed a reform for more investment, inclusion and development in the Global South.
22:16The International Conference on Financing for Development
22:37Internal tensions continue to rise in Tel Aviv as some of Netanyahu's cabinet members have expressed concerns over the fate of Israeli detainees.
22:44amid the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
22:49In this regard, regime's military chief, Eyal Samir, reportedly cautioned against expanding the Zionist operations in the Palestinian enclave, fearing impacts on those captured by the resistance movement.
23:02While, for his part, Finance Minister Besalel Smotrich criticized Amir's stance and vowed for continuing the genocidal aggression on Gaza.
23:11In the face of increasing demands from both military authorities and social organisations, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to define a new strategic proposal that tackles the military build-up and the release of prisoners.
