00:00Jay and Brittany are moving from the East Coast,
00:03focused on luxury.
00:04I love Sarkville Driveways.
00:06You know, pretend shiplap.
00:08Look at it. It's not even, like, level.
00:09I think it's fine.
00:10She's holding the line on what they actually
00:12need, as opposed to want.
00:14I think it's still .
00:23Hey.
00:24I'm a stay-at-home mom.
00:25I co-own a restaurant in Virginia Beach.
00:27Time to go to my family.
00:28And we're here for a few weeks trying.
00:30Three years.
00:31I don't want to hear any complaining out of you.
00:33No stairs, because they're getting older.
00:35They're older, and so, yeah.
00:36I want a big grand house.
00:40My idea of family living, we bought something
00:42a little bit more manageable.
00:44I grew up in a culture where your status
00:46is judged from your house.
00:47We just grew up very differently, though.
00:49You can't afford to pay your bills, or how big is big?
00:52Five, six bedrooms.
00:54No, that's just too big.
00:55I say we go with the traditional.
00:57We had a big farmhouse, probably like 14
00:59or something bedrooms.
01:01Open kitchen to the courtyard.
01:03He wants us to live in a hotel and an entertainment
01:05space for them to have guest stay.
01:07For me, I like the defined spaces in a house.
01:10I don't want to walk in, and you look right.
01:12That's true.
01:13I know, Jay, you love wood floors.
01:15You pee something a lot easier to maintain.
01:17I'm thinking we should get acres.
01:18And who's going to be taking care of four or five acres?
01:20What are you going to do?
01:21Are you going to get a goat?
01:22I'm going to take care.
01:23I know, I can take care of it.
01:24You think so?
01:25Yeah.
01:25How about we start with one?
01:26I grew up on a farm.
01:28With some garden boxes.
01:30We can't really get much for $4.50.
01:33I can't do too small.
01:39Go ahead, it's pretty nice.
01:40I know you want land, but you don't get two-story.
01:43It's a two-story.
01:45Look how grand it looks just from the outside of it.
01:48See is all the bills we have to pay to heat and cool that thing.
01:55Nice landscaping.
01:56I like the, uh, bro.
01:57My aesthetic, but it looks OK.
02:00Yeah, where we had a big farmhouse, probably 14 or something
02:04bedrooms.
02:05Open kitchen to the courtyard where people just sit and eat
02:09and hang out.
02:10I'll hang out.
02:10I want my kids to have that lifestyle that I experience.
02:14One or two times a year that we might actually entertain
02:16or have at my kitchen and my sink full of dirty dishes.
02:19Oh, that's like I get it.
02:20But with young kids, I'd rather have LVPs,
02:23something a lot easier to maintain.
02:25I'm thinking we should get like four to five acres of land.
02:28Four to five, eh?
02:29You think so?
02:29Yeah.
02:30How about we start with one?
02:31I grew up on a farm.
02:33With some garden boxes.
02:35Price-wise, what are you guys looking at?
02:36$5.50.
02:38I just can't imagine spending more than $4.50.
02:41I don't need the big flashy house.
02:42But, you know, got to have some kind of bling.
02:46GPS says like five minutes, so land in a neighborhood.
02:52In a neighborhood, yeah.
02:53Well, see, look how grand it looks just from the outside of it.
02:56All I see is all the bills we have to pay
02:59to heat and cool that thing.
03:03Nice landscaping.
03:04I like the little stone texture on the walls.
03:06You know, it's not exactly my aesthetic, but it looks OK.
03:12Hey, guys.
03:13Hey, how are you?
03:13Hey, how are you?
03:14How are you?
03:15He got us a two-story, right?
03:16Yeah, that's what he wanted, right?
03:17Wow, I love the two-story.
03:18Yeah.
03:19Awesome.
03:21They're so diverse in their thinking.
03:23Jay, obviously, is looking for the mega mansion.
03:27Brittany is looking for affordability,
03:30not looking for anything over the top.
03:31That's a huge gap.
03:32We're going to have our work cut out for us,
03:34because we're going to show Jay things he's going to love.
03:35We're going to show Brittany things she's going to love,
03:37and they're going to have to come to the center.
03:39I want you to be a little creative in your thinking here.
03:41This may need to be potentially a bedroom
03:44to make it work for your folks.
03:45We've got to do something on the main level
03:47because of the stairs.
03:48OK, so this is the option.
03:49Yeah, the stairs.
03:50I mean, it's a decent size.
03:52Your mom can peek out like she loves to do.
03:56These floors are LVP?
03:57Yeah, LVP.
03:58Oh, I love that.
03:58And this is 2,534 square feet.
04:01So small, OK.
04:02It doesn't look that small.
04:042,500 square feet is not small.
04:06That size sounds great to me.
04:08This is the half bath on the main level.
04:10OK.
04:10So this is the only bathroom on the main.
04:12It's really a non-negotiable to have a third bath,
04:14so we'd have to add something.
04:16You're going to have to go into the garage to make this work,
04:19or push that direction.
04:22Like, how open this is.
04:24Yeah, see, that's exactly what I didn't want.
04:26Ton of space to entertain.
04:28Like, yeah, I think it's amazing to have all the kids
04:30going around.
04:31From the entrance, it's kind of like kitchen's kind of hidden,
04:34you know, all the stuff was over here.
04:36It is true.
04:36You can't see my sink and dishes from the front door.
04:38Oh, this countertop reminds me of my first house.
04:41Yeah, I think it looks the same.
04:43It looks the same.
04:44You know, it hides everything.
04:45Yeah, it would, for sure.
04:46Especially with turmeric stains and all that stuff.
04:48Yeah.
04:49I don't love the white.
04:51I just see fingerprints everywhere.
04:53It's just not my favorite.
04:54We'll just clean it more often than usual.
04:57I see.
04:58You're just going to add to my plate.
04:59OK.
05:00Nice sliding door to the patio.
05:02Yeah, the outdoor living is great.
05:03Fully fenced.
05:04Oh, I kind of like this.
05:06It's not too big.
05:08It's too small.
05:08Pretty manageable.
05:09Way too small.
05:10Well, of course you would say that.
05:11Not too big.
05:11Too small.
05:12Oh, you guys are hilarious.
05:13It's way too small.
05:14And I know that you wanted more acreage.
05:15This is, you know, 0.22 of an acre is what you've got here.
05:18See?
05:190.22.
05:20That's decent.
05:21That's too small.
05:23Perfect for me.
05:23Yeah.
05:24All right.
05:26I like this carpet, actually.
05:28Yeah, that's what it's safe for the kids.
05:30This is the primary.
05:31Oh.
05:31This is the primary room.
05:32OK.
05:32Nice big space.
05:34I love LVP, but not in the bedrooms.
05:37When you step out of bed, I just, you know,
05:39don't like cold floors.
05:40Yeah, I prefer that.
05:41Yeah.
05:42Oh, see?
05:43Now these cabinets, I love this wood look.
05:46I wish that they had this in the kitchen.
05:47I just wanted a double sink.
05:48True, I just see all your beard hair in here.
05:51I'd love this bathtub right here.
05:53I know you would.
05:54But to me, it's just a waste of space.
05:55I wish the shower was bigger, but.
05:56Why?
05:57You can soak in here, you know?
05:58After all good workouts, just.
06:00Yeah, OK.
06:01Enjoy my bath time.
06:02You do that.
06:03Bathroom is doable, but I would definitely
06:05put a double sink in, though.
06:06Yeah.
06:09This is an interesting room.
06:10So another bedroom?
06:11It doesn't have a closet, so it can't be officially
06:14counted as a bedroom.
06:14It's a good space.
06:16It would be nice as a bedroom.
06:17All the bedrooms are here.
06:19OK.
06:19It is decent size.
06:21And at least the rooms are right next to each other
06:23for the kids.
06:24So that flex space next to the primary would
06:28technically be like a fifth room up here.
06:30If you put a closet in there, it would be a fifth bedroom.
06:32Fifth bedroom.
06:33I know, that makes you happy.
06:34So yeah, I like the sound of that.
06:37Here's your full bath.
06:38Again, single sink.
06:40I always had to share with my sisters,
06:41so it would be nice to have a double your right.
06:45So you guys are like, I mean, I want to do my best for you
06:48and everything, right?
06:49But you know, I want big, I want small, I want tall,
06:51I want skinny, I want, I, where are we at?
06:53What do you think?
06:54How can I help you?
06:55I mean, I love the two-story look.
06:57The bedrooms are pretty decent size.
06:59Yeah.
06:59The kitchen is, look at it, speaks for itself.
07:01Yeah, I mean, I hear you.
07:03We're just going to have to really put some thought
07:04into if the layout will work for our family.
07:07I mean, we'd have to spend some money
07:08to really make this work.
07:09The full bathroom is a must.
07:10Yeah.
07:11I want to like, you know, two, three acres.
07:13And maybe you could find something that has like a dedicated
07:15unit for the parents.
07:16I know that might be tough in this area.
07:18Yep.
07:21The next place doesn't have the land Jay wants,
07:23but it does come through on space.
07:25Six bedrooms.
07:27Oh.
07:27And three bathrooms.
07:36So is that your sister lives?
07:38Yeah.
07:38That's the house, wow.
07:39That might be too close.
07:41That's across the street, pretty much.
07:42Ranch, score one for me.
07:44Ranch.
07:45What about me?
07:51Hey.
07:52Hey, Ryan.
07:53Welcome.
07:53Come on in.
07:54OK.
07:55Well, you kind of buried the lead.
07:57It's right across the street from my sister.
07:58That's too close for my comfort.
07:59Your parents lived in our house.
08:01That's true.
08:02When they come.
08:03480,000.
08:04OK.
08:04Six bedrooms.
08:06Wow.
08:06And three bathrooms.
08:07And the floors are not bad for, I mean,
08:09I like the floors too.
08:10The color's good.
08:11This looks like real hardwood.
08:13I mean, I would really prefer LVP.
08:15It's pretty, I just, I really would like something
08:17easier to maintain.
08:18It's pretty hardy.
08:18And I don't really know about this shiplap.
08:21It's like, you know, pretend shiplap.
08:23Look at it.
08:24It's not even like level straight.
08:25You know, like it goes up and then the bow's down.
08:27You're the only one that would notice that.
08:29I think it's fine.
08:30Ryan, you know I like wood-look cabinets.
08:34This was wood.
08:35They painted it.
08:35Oh, that's even worse.
08:36Oh.
08:37This was an alder cabinet.
08:38Oh, yeah.
08:40I like the island part, definitely.
08:41Yeah.
08:42I'm really disappointed in the white countertops, though.
08:45You remember when your mom cut all those carrots and-
08:48Oh, yeah.
08:49That definitely got a-
08:50It immediately stained orange.
08:51A stain, yeah.
08:52Yeah.
08:53That stain is definitely something-
08:54It took a lot of other grease to get that out.
08:55It took a lot of other grease to get that out.
08:56You know, it's too much of a separation.
08:57Like, if we put a table here, then there's no people going to stand.
09:02Summertime, you'd have that outdoor living, and this outdoor living here is really nice.
09:06Yeah, but summers here are pretty short.
09:08And it's true.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Today's a prime example of that.
09:11We'll plan the one party a year in the summer, so you don't have to worry about that.
09:14Wow.
09:15I like the walk-in laundry room.
09:16Built-in storage.
09:17The wallpaper, I mean, you know.
09:20Not something I would pick, but I can live with it.
09:22This backyard is gorgeous.
09:29But it's definitely not what I want.
09:31I understand.
09:32You know, I really want some acres where I can, you know.
09:34Well, we have so much else going on.
09:36I think that, you know, having an easy-to-maintain yard would be good.
09:39They've got a really good established garden.
09:40Oh.
09:41Oh, I love that.
09:43I can just see our kids playing there.
09:44For sure.
09:45It's not as big as you want, but I think it's perfect for me.
09:47There are a lot of feelings surrounding a cross-country move.
09:51I know that it's going to be a good move for our family, but at the same time, there's
09:53a lot of anxiety and apprehension.
09:56Jay and I are on completely different pages on what we want.
09:59And so I'm a little bit nervous that we're going to be able to find something that will
10:02make us both happy.
10:04Three beds, two baths on the main.
10:06Okay.
10:07It is, they are nice-sized rooms.
10:09Okay.
10:10It's decent.
10:11I mean, one of these rooms would have to be for your parents because they can't go down
10:16the stairs.
10:17At least we have a main floor guest bath, so that's good.
10:23And so this is the, uh...
10:25This is the primary.
10:26Primary.
10:27Okay.
10:28You know, everything in this house feels a little tight to me.
10:30Yeah.
10:31What if you guys ended up occupying the downstairs and let your folks stay up here?
10:35Hmm.
10:36I don't know about that.
10:37I mean, I want...
10:38Well, the primary bedrooms up here, so...
10:40Yeah.
10:41All the big closets and everything like that is up here, so...
10:43We'll see.
10:44I just...
10:45I can't imagine being in a house without being in the primary.
10:46The things you sacrifice for mom and dad, man.
10:47You got to do it.
10:48I guess we'll see.
10:49In one sink.
10:50I do love the wood look.
10:51Did he...
10:52Check myself out, you know?
10:53You know that's his favorite pastime, is checking himself out.
10:56Yeah.
10:57The burdens that handsome men carry around, huh?
10:59Exactly, you know?
11:00Yes.
11:01All right.
11:02Let me take you downstairs.
11:04Three bed.
11:05Okay.
11:06One bath.
11:07Huge living room.
11:08Okay.
11:09Carpet looks in decent shape.
11:11Big.
11:12Large.
11:13Yeah.
11:14This is more what I'm used to for bedroom size.
11:15Large.
11:16A lot of space.
11:17Bathroom is a really great size.
11:18Okay.
11:19Well, this one, you can do a double sink, probably.
11:20Easily.
11:21This is really massive.
11:22The living room is huge.
11:23Yeah.
11:24This is great space.
11:25Yeah.
11:26This is where we'd spend most of our time.
11:27The day-to-day with the kids.
11:29I can picture it.
11:30And they can get the toys here.
11:32They can make a mess here.
11:33And we still have upstairs for all the entertaining that you want to do.
11:36I think it's a little too small for us.
11:39What about six bedrooms?
11:40Yeah.
11:412,800 square feet?
11:42I mean, I know you think this is small, but it's not.
11:44I love the ranch look.
11:45And I like the defined spaces.
11:46That's good for me.
11:47And I like the manageable yard.
11:49I love that it already has the play set for our kids.
11:51It's not big as what I wanted, because obviously I wanted like, you know, two, three acres.
11:56Right.
11:57And since getting land is so important to Jay, their agent finally delivers on that.
12:02I mean, this is like a dream come true for me.
12:06This place is like about 20 minutes away from my parents.
12:15Wow, really?
12:16Yeah.
12:17I don't know.
12:18I mean, I kind of like this area a little bit.
12:21Brings back a lot of good memories.
12:22Yeah.
12:23Is this what it was like in India?
12:24A lot of farm fields and just a lot of gravel roads.
12:28Looks like it's a ranch.
12:29I do like that.
12:30It's your favorite thing right here.
12:32Circular driveway.
12:33I love circular driveways.
12:35I mean, I do like the look of it.
12:40I see Amaya climbing all the trees.
12:43Look at this view, though.
12:44Look at the great view to the farmlands.
12:46Yeah.
12:47Yeah.
12:48It is peaceful.
12:52Hey, Jay, Brittany.
12:53Come on in, guys.
12:54How are ya?
12:55You like that ranch home?
12:56Yeah.
12:57Yeah.
12:58We're a little bit out there, huh?
12:59Yeah.
13:00This is more country.
13:01I love the land.
13:02It's amazing.
13:03Look out.
13:04Big everything is.
13:05Carpet's fine.
13:06I mean, we'd probably want to change it.
13:07This area was an addition.
13:08So this little solarium here.
13:09You can have like 20 people here right here.
13:11There's only four of us.
13:12And well, I guess with your parents, but.
13:14My parents, so it's our family visiting.
13:16Party house.
13:19I love, I love this granite, actually.
13:22I really wish it was wood.
13:24I don't love the white.
13:25It looks like they're painted.
13:27But yeah, I would need a little work.
13:29You got your half bath right here.
13:31I mean, we have to have a third full bath.
13:34Do you have ideas for how we could make that work?
13:36We'll go down the hallway over there.
13:37I think you'll be able to see that.
13:41Primary.
13:42Oh, okay.
13:43This is a good space.
13:44Yeah, I like the space on this.
13:45Oh, I like the barn door.
13:46That's nice.
13:47Oh, wow.
13:49Oh.
13:50That's big.
13:51That's huge, huh?
13:52Okay, so closet.
13:53What would you have carpet in the bathroom?
13:54That's.
13:55Oh, yeah.
13:56That would have to go immediately.
13:57Yeah.
13:58In a single sink, which is definitely a negative for me.
14:00Yeah.
14:03I think, you know, besides the carpet, it would be livable for now.
14:07But down the line, we'd have.
14:08Yeah.
14:09The projects are kind of adding up.
14:11So we've got three bedrooms down.
14:13Okay.
14:14Okay.
14:15And a full bathroom.
14:16Okay, so newer carpet down here.
14:18Yep.
14:19Wouldn't have to touch that.
14:20Oh, what is this?
14:21Just a little fun little cubby for the kids.
14:23Oh, yeah.
14:24They would go crazy with that.
14:25And I was just thinking food for thought.
14:27What if your parents lived upstairs and you guys occupied down here?
14:30I mean.
14:31Well, think about it.
14:32Let's look at this.
14:33Not a bad idea.
14:34Okay.
14:35So if that were the case, you know, either this room or the third room down here would
14:38be probably your choice.
14:40It is a decent size.
14:41No closet doors.
14:42Of course, this would be your bathroom.
14:45So.
14:46Okay.
14:47It's something that would work.
14:48Definitely dated again, but at least double sinks.
14:54Okay.
14:55So this could be a primary also.
14:58It's definitely large enough.
14:59Figure out what we need.
15:00Take a right through that door.
15:01I want to show you the utility.
15:02Okay.
15:03Oh, that's big.
15:06If you guys did want to make a primary there and push into this room, the utilities are
15:11all here.
15:12How much would something like that run?
15:13Do you think so?
15:14Oh, man.
15:15I bet you're 10 to 12 grand.
15:16It has potential.
15:17I don't love the sound of those numbers, but I mean, it is what it is.
15:19It's possible.
15:20Yeah.
15:21It's just possible.
15:24Look at that pergola.
15:25Oh, wow.
15:26This is beautiful.
15:27It really is.
15:28And the bar.
15:29And the bar's right here.
15:30Party central.
15:31Party central.
15:32It's definitely a party house.
15:33You got the pass through, the dining room.
15:34Yeah.
15:35And look at this.
15:36Look at the size of your acreage.
15:371.7.
15:381.7.
15:39Do you know about where?
15:40Follow the trees, baby.
15:41All the way back to the corner.
15:42Okay.
15:43And the raspberries all the way back there.
15:44This is what you're paying for, right?
15:45Yeah.
15:46This land.
15:47I could see the kids climbing the trees and running in the grass.
15:50Is that playset?
15:51Yeah, that's included.
15:52Okay.
15:53Okay.
15:54I mean, this is like a dream come true for me.
15:55You can't argue that this isn't gorgeous.
15:57Well, you guys have a lot to think about.
15:58Yeah.
15:59We do.
16:00You and your sister here, so it'll be great for mom and I.
16:04Yeah.
16:05Y'all looked at a few houses.
16:06Yeah.
16:07So, um, Ryan took us to this, this two-story house.
16:08Cause you know, that's what Jay loves.
16:09I love two-story house.
16:10The bigger the better.
16:11But it's funny because it's the smallest of all three.
16:12It just looks.
16:13Yeah, it looks grand.
16:14And you know, that's what matters for him, right?
16:15It's all about the look.
16:16I mean, it's, you know, not exactly my style.
16:17There was an office space downstairs that his parents could use as a bedroom.
16:20Uh, but it only had a half bath, so we would have to add a shower for them to have a full
16:23bath on the main floor.
16:24I mean, it's a little more than I wanted to spend, but it's, um, you know, it could be
16:41doable.
16:42So the next house that we saw was, uh, right across the street from Crystal.
16:47Are you sure y'all can be that close together?
16:50Yeah, I mean, it is definitely something that we have to consider.
16:53I mean, I love my sister, but you know, growing up, we didn't always get along.
16:57I can see Brittany and Crystal yelling across the street at each other.
17:01Don't even have to pick up the phone.
17:03Don't yell through the window.
17:05You know, that house is a ranch.
17:07So from the outside, it looks small, but it does still have enough bedrooms.
17:11How many bedrooms does it have?
17:13Six bedrooms.
17:14Oh my goodness.
17:15For his parents, Ryan suggested having them upstairs in the primary and us living in the basement.
17:22They, they can't go downstairs and with the bedroom situation, it might, it might be something that we have to consider.
17:27That house was about $480, which was the least expensive.
17:30Still more than I wanted to spend, but, um, I mean, it was mostly move-in ready.
17:34Less money you have to spend there.
17:35Yeah, but you know, I think we should spend a little more and get what we really want.
17:40Or what you really want.
17:41Or what you really want.
17:43One of the houses we saw had over a 1.7 acreage lot.
17:50And it's a ranch.
17:51Good for her.
17:53It was probably about, like, 15, 20 minute drive from here.
17:57It was another situation where we would have to consider living in the basement.
18:01The parents would need to live in the primary.
18:04There's really no other room that would work for them there.
18:06One of the weirdest things that house had was the carpet in the bathroom.
18:10Which would have to go immediately.
18:11The one thing we agreed on was that.
18:13But it was the most expensive.
18:15It was $5.39.9.
18:30I was thinking of putting a vase together.
18:31All right, I think I'm going to make some lunch.
18:33We chose the six bedroom traditional ranch.
18:36Even though it is across the street from Crystal.
18:40It'll give him a little taste of what I've been dealing with with his family in our house.
18:45I'm actually pretty okay with that.
18:47So, you know, if we need someone to watch the kids, they're right across the street from us.
18:51At the end of the day, we really made our decision on what would be best for the whole family, including the kids.
18:56And having families so close is really a priceless thing for them.
18:59I definitely didn't get my acreage, but I will sacrifice that for my family.
19:05He says that, but he's already talked to me about making sure that we buy a separate piece of acreage down the line.
19:11That will definitely happen.
19:12It's a temporary sacrifice for him.
19:14What do you think your parents will think?
19:16I think they're going to love it.
19:18The house will list it for $4.80.
19:20And we purchased it for $4.78.5.
19:23More than I really wanted.
19:25But at the end of the day, you have to sacrifice something.
19:28And in order to get something that was going to work for our family, that's what we needed to spend.
19:31So I'm okay with it now.
19:33So we closed about a week ago, and we're not fully moved in yet.
19:37We got carpet in.
19:38It took a little longer.
19:39So we're still trying to get settled.
19:41His parents are coming with the kids in a couple days.
19:44So we focused on getting the big pieces of furniture set up, and then we'll be moving in all the rest kind of as we find time.
19:51I think this was the right choice for us, for sure.
19:54Absolutely.
19:55The life in Idaho is really different from Virginia.
19:58It's more peaceful.
19:59It's quiet.
20:00I just envision our kids riding bikes down the street and making friends.
20:05But I just can't wait to see them grow here.
20:07Thanks so much, Jonas.
20:08I'll see you all tonight.
20:09I'll talk to you soon soon.
20:10We are getting the final scores.
20:12Thank you so much.
20:14Maybe you can see one of us.
20:15In this episode for Neil süper Central Park.
20:16You've pulled your best.
20:17I've still got
