01:38Then, Sherry Pepini, the so-called perfect wife, who did time for faking her own kidnapping.
01:45She says she can't find a job.
01:47The minute they hear my name, it's like...
01:50Plus, are you ready for summer ween?
01:52Summer ween is happening.
01:54What is this summer ween?
01:57Now, Inside Edition.
02:00Hello, thanks for joining us.
02:01I'm Mary Calvey.
02:03We are learning more about the ransacking of actor Brad Pitt's home after L.A. police say three suspects scaled a fence while he was on a worldwide tour promoting his new movie.
02:13As Stephen Fabian reports, it's just the latest in a string of high-profile break-ins of celebrity homes.
02:20Was Brad Pitt targeted because the bad guys knew he was out of the country?
02:24The break-in happened while Pitt was on a highly publicized tour promoting his new picture, F1, the movie.
02:31Images of his red carpet appearances in major cities have been all over the media.
02:36He was at the movie's premiere in New York.
02:38He wooed fans in Mexico City.
02:40He posed with Tom Cruise in London.
02:43And this week, he played video games in Tokyo.
02:46While all that promotion was going on, cops say three men scaled the security fence at Pitt's Los Angeles home at around 10.30 at night and turned it upside down.
02:57The home is known as the Steel House.
02:59You can see its ultra-modern design and light-filled rooms.
03:03Today, one of those floor-to-ceiling windows is boarded up.
03:06Crime scene investigators picked over the house for evidence.
03:09Security expert Joe DeLue pointed out what he sees as the vulnerable spots at Pitt's mansion.
03:16Property seems really accessible, right?
03:17The low walls.
03:19It's very close to the main thoroughfare.
03:20Pitt is just the latest celebrity whose home has been hit.
03:24Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's residence was burglarized on Valentine's Day.
03:29Also, Tom Hanks.
03:31Sports figures like Travis Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes have also fallen victim to burglars while they were away.
03:37So with all those famous personalities in Venice for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, should the guests be worried they might be on the thieves, hit them while they're away list?
03:48They should be considering extra security at their residence.
03:51It's racing movie F1 opens today.
03:55The sky's the limit for the wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
03:59They've got everything a bride and group could ask for.
04:02Unlimited budget, a gorgeous setting in one of the world's most romantic cities, and a star-studded guest list.
04:08Yes, they thought of everything, but somebody forgot to tell Mother Nature to please hold the reign.
04:13Here's Amber Cagliano.
04:15Here comes the groom.
04:17There's Jeff Bezos, all smiles in a tuxedo, waving to crowds as he leaves the hotel for his wedding to Lauren Sanchez.
04:26And there's the bride-to-be, the picture of old Hollywood glamour in a vintage Dior skirt suit with a silk headscarf.
04:33Check out her jewels, two large diamonds, including her engagement ring, and her bracelet has the initials LB for Lauren Bezos.
04:43Oprah holds on for dear life as she steps into the water taxi, careful not to step on her gorgeous pink gown.
04:50BFF Gayle King is right behind her in a one-shoulder red dress.
04:54Ivanka Trump dazzles in an embellished gown with a thigh-high slit.
04:59Tom Brady and singer Usher are heading to the wedding together.
05:03The ceremony is expected to take place on San Giorgio Island.
05:07It will be at the outermost end of San Giorgio, away from Pairing Eyes and Paparazzi, in a very secluded section of the island.
05:17In the midst of all the festivities, Lauren sent a special message to close friend Katy Perry, who just called it quits with Orlando Bloom.
05:25Orlando is in Venice for the wedding.
05:27But not Katy. She's on tour in Australia.
05:31We miss you, Katy, Lauren says.
05:34Last night, the bride-to-be got caught in a thunderstorm as she left her welcome party.
05:40The Kardashians climbed into a water taxi under a sea of umbrellas.
05:45Kim shared video of the lightning.
05:48Check out the rain-soaked seats.
05:50The rained and dampened actress Sydney Sweeney's mood, she still looked stunning in a plunging floral dress.
05:55Italians have a saying, which is, sposa bannata, sposa fortunata.
06:00And that means, a little rain is good luck for the bride.
06:04It reportedly took Bezos' team of lawyers months to negotiate an ironclad prenup with Lauren Sanchez.
06:10As you may recall, Bezos' divorce from his first wife is said to have cost him $38 billion in Amazon stock.
06:17It's being called the swingers' defense.
06:20Sean P. Diddy Combs' defense lawyers made their final summation to the federal jury at his sex trafficking trial today.
06:27And they put forward the argument that the rap mogul had a swingers' lifestyle that may not be for everyone, but is not criminal.
06:34Les Trent is at the courthouse.
06:36Drama on the final day of Sean P. Diddy Combs' trial as his family takes center stage and is even introduced to the jurors.
06:46His 31-year-old son, Justin, turned up wearing a free Sean Combs t-shirt visible beneath his sweater.
06:52He was ordered to leave the court and allowed back in only after he removed it.
06:57Diddy's 84-year-old mom, Janice, arrived with her pet, Shih Tzu, for emotional support, but left the pooch with an assistant.
07:04His 18-year-old twin daughters, Jessie and Delilah, wore matching houndstooth suits and walked hand-in-hand with their sister, Chance.
07:14In closing arguments, Diddy's defense attorney pointed out the music mogul's mom and six of his children sitting in the second row to support him as a family.
07:23You should know who he is, he said.
07:25The man takes care of his people.
07:28Diddy is charged with sex trafficking and racketeering.
07:30He's relying on a swinger's defense, claiming he and accusers like former girlfriend Cassie Ventura were swingers,
07:39willingly taking part in sex orgies known as freak-offs.
07:43Defense attorney Mark Agnifolo poured scorn on Ventura, whose disturbing graphic testimony was the centerpiece of the prosecution case.
07:52He told the jury she enjoyed the freak-offs.
07:56She actually liked sex.
07:57Good for her.
07:58She's a 10, he said.
08:00Victim shaming is never something that is popular with the jurors, ever.
08:06He admitted that chilling video showing Diddy beating Cassie Ventura in an L.A. hotel shows the relationship was volatile.
08:14They loved.
08:14They loved out loud, he said.
08:16Prosecutors showed the jury dozens of bottles of baby oil, baggies of pink cocaine, an extensive collection of women's lingerie, and high-heeled platform shoes, items they say were used in Diddy's freak-offs.
08:31Now, after eight weeks of harrowing testimony, Diddy's fate is about to be in the hands of the jury.
08:39Combs ended his defense without calling a single witness.
08:44Was this the worst cruise ever?
08:46It happened when a fire in an engine room led to a loss of power and a breakdown in the ship's sanitary conditions.
08:54The notorious incident became known as the Poop Cruise, and now it's the subject of a big new Netflix documentary.
09:01It was the cruise from hell that captivated the nation.
09:07They are cold, they are hungry, it smells awful.
09:104,000 passengers and crew were stranded on board the crippled Carnival Triumph.
09:15The dream vacation has fast become a nightmare.
09:18Sewage is dripping down the walls.
09:21The ordeal in February 2013 made international news, and now it's the subject of a new Netflix documentary, Trainwreck Poop Cruise.
09:30I was on the Poop Cruise.
09:32Natalie Kola-Jajak was just 12 years old, vacationing with her family, when the Triumph lost power after a fire broke out in the engine room.
09:40It was just overwhelming in the sense of not knowing if it was going to be the next Titanic or if we were going to be just fine.
09:48With no power, there was no air conditioning, and the toilets wouldn't flush.
09:52So the corridors and cabins quickly became stifling, and conditions turned unsanitary.
09:58Oh my God.
10:00When the ship tilted, raw sewage flowed into the corridors, soaking the carpet.
10:05The passengers abandoned their cabins, carrying their mattresses to the pool deck to escape the putrid air.
10:11It's like shantytown around here.
10:14People are sleeping everywhere.
10:16Rob and Stephanie Mola may be the only passengers with fond memories of the poop cruise.
10:21They got married on the ship.
10:23When you get married on the poop cruise, is that good luck or bad luck?
10:27Obviously good luck.
10:28We've been married 12 years.
10:30It took four days for tugboats to tow the stricken ship to Mobile, Alabama.
10:35An inside addition was there when the passengers disembarked, some of them kissing the ground.
10:40What was the smell on board like?
10:43It's terrible.
10:44Awful.
10:45You've seen some of the video footage.
10:46There's people kissing the ground.
10:48That's really how it felt.
10:50You wanted to kiss the ground.
10:52So glad to be back on solid ground.
10:54And use the restroom to flush.
10:56Yes.
10:56After the cruise, Carnival Cruise Lines gutted and renovated the Triumph and also gave it a new name.
11:04It is now called the Carnival Sunrise.
11:07She's known as the real-life gun girl.
11:09Sherry Papini served time for falsely claiming she was kidnapped by two women.
11:14Now in more of Victoria Rocano's exclusive interview, Papini says that despite pleading guilty to faking her own kidnapping,
11:21she really was abducted, and she's pointing the finger at the man who she says mutilated her body.
11:28Sherry Papini, California's most infamous mom, says no one will give her a job.
11:33It's difficult.
11:34It's difficult when you go.
11:36I've been to so many interviews, and it's like the minute they hear my name and find out who I am,
11:41it's like, you know, we don't want the attention.
11:44In 2016, the so-called perfect wife vanished in Redding, California, sparking a nationwide manhunt.
11:52She reappeared 22 days later, bruised and branded, saying she'd been kidnapped by two women.
11:58Do you have anything that you want to say?
12:00But in 2022, she admitted to staging her own kidnapping,
12:05saying she'd really been hiding out with former boyfriend James Reyes.
12:09She served 11 months in jail.
12:11Now comes another curveball.
12:14She's telling Inside Edition she really was kidnapped, and she's blaming her ex-boyfriend.
12:20The injuries to my body represent quite a lot of culpability,
12:24and they're injuries that I couldn't possibly do to myself.
12:27Reyes told cops that Sherry staged her injuries.
12:30He was never charged.
12:31He hasn't been arrested, and police say he had nothing to do with the kidnapping.
12:37Have you any concerns about being sued for defamation?
12:40Well, you can't sue somebody for telling the truth.
12:43So if he were to do that, for example, I welcome it.
12:48I would love to get him in a courtroom.
12:50And frankly, he would have to answer to everything that he did in mutilating my body and keeping this secret.
12:57She says she initially lied about the kidnapping because she was scared of both Reyes and her husband Keith.
13:04She and Keith are now divorced.
13:06He has full custody of their two kids.
13:08She should not be alone with the children.
13:11She harmed her own body to fake a kidnap.
13:15Lie after lie after lie.
13:16Why believe you now?
13:18I'm not actually asking anyone to believe me now.
13:22I'm simply taking my voice back to tell my story from my perspective.
13:27Pepini has just released a self-published book, Sherry Pepini Doesn't Exist,
13:31in which she says she finally tells the truth about what happened.
13:34Did you know that tomorrow is a holiday?
13:38It's called Summerween.
13:39It's just like Halloween, but it takes place in the summer.
13:42Allison Hall tells us who came up with this scary idea.
13:46Trick or treat in June.
13:48It's called Summerween, a kooky early celebration of ghouls and goblins.
13:54Look at this display at Michaels, perfect for the folks who can't wait until October 31st.
14:01Summerween is happening.
14:02One look on social media and you'll see Summerween really is a thing.
14:07Folks are decorating their homes and wearing costumes.
14:10I got these pillows from TJ Maxx.
14:13They are super cute.
14:14Bonnie Barton loves early Halloween.
14:17Doing backyard barbecues that are Halloween-themed.
14:21Spooky ghost stories around a campfire.
14:24So, how'd Summerween come about?
14:27Here we are, the Summerween Superstore.
14:30The first known reference was the animated show Gravity Falls.
14:34Wait, summer what?
14:36Summerween!
14:36The people of this town love Halloween so much they celebrate it twice a year.
14:40Yep, so nice they had to do it twice.
14:43To the costume aisle!
14:45Fans of the show got in on the act and Summerween slowly began catching fire.
14:50And now it's in full swing.
14:52Summerween may seem like an off-the-wall idea, but for retailers, it's great for sales.
14:58After all, Halloween is a $12 billion business.
15:02Summer is a slow time in retail and so we often see retailers trying to get creative and drumming up excitement.
15:09You know, we've seen Black Friday and July sales, so Summerween is just another version of that.
15:13Shopping expert Trey Bosch's 19-year-old daughter, Sadie, is a Summerween fan and she showed us her haul.
15:20I think it's great to get excited about Halloween much before it even happens.
15:24Happy Summerween, back with more Inside Edition after this.
15:29Next, from the $50 million wedding of the year to weddings for the rest of us.
15:35You may kiss your bride.
15:36Wait till you see what their wedding costs.
15:38Then, Barbara, Mariah, Ariana, three divas, one song.
15:45A sister heart of some song.
15:50Inside Edition will be right back.
15:55Things were already so difficult for my mom when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
16:00Then she developed agitation that may happen with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease.
16:05She started verbally lashing out, breaking things, wandering at night.
16:11These symptoms were a different kind of difficult.
16:14So, we asked her doctor for more help.

18:26Smells like home.
18:27Smells like flowers to me, man.
18:29Thank you, Zeke.
18:30La-la-la-la-la-la.
18:32Check this out.
18:33It's a cowboy robot wearing a cowboy hat strolling down the streets of Austin, Texas, as bold as brass.
18:39The robot is named Jake and is controlled by a human operating a remote control.
18:44The robot weighs 77 pounds and costs $16,000, and it doesn't carry a six-shooter.
18:52The Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez wedding reportedly costs $50 million, and it's throwing the spotlight on the high price of weddings.
18:59The average wedding costs about $35,000, but many couples are deciding to throw micro-weddings, which can cost as low as $1,000 to $3,000.
19:10It's the wedding of the year.
19:11Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' nuptials are said to be costing about $50 million.
19:17But the rest of us are opting for a more intimate and much less expensive experience.
19:23They're called micro-weddings.
19:25We're getting married!
19:26Emily Sugarman and Brandon Schmidt are planning a micro-wedding this weekend, the same weekend as the Bezos-Sanchez nuptials.
19:34We wanted to keep it on the cheap side, but really make it special.
19:36Their ceremony isn't taking place in Venice.
19:39The only destination for this bride and groom is this place, the Old Brown House in Los Angeles.
19:45You don't have to pay a million dollars to have an amazing wedding.
19:49Jess Wheat and her husband Dan own the wedding chapel.
19:52They specialize in micro-weddings.
19:54It's all-inclusive.
19:55You get everything.
19:57We do the flowers.
19:58We do music.
19:59We DJ.
20:00We officiate.
20:01All of it.
20:02This is our little wedding chapel.
20:04Check out the wedding chapel.
20:05It seats only 15 people.
20:08Here are the gowns.
20:09No dress?
20:10No problem.
20:11They got you covered there, too.
20:12Emily found this secondhand dress.
20:15I chose this dress because I just thought it was so beautiful.
20:18It doesn't make sense to spend all your money on a wedding that is going to be done in two hours.
20:23So these soon-to-be newlyweds have figured out how to say I do without saying, I don't want to pay for that.
20:30You may kiss your bride.
20:33Congratulations!
20:34We wish them the very best.
20:37And when we come back, a trio of singing legends.
20:42Things were already so difficult for my mom when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
20:47Then she developed agitation that may happen with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease.
