Australia defeated West Indies by 159 runs in the first Test 2025 at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 27. Day 2 saw West Indies take a ten-run lead in the first innings. On Day 3, the conditions for batting considerably got better and courtesy the poor catching from the West Indies fielders, Travis Head (61) and Beau Webster (63) stitched a 102-run partnership. Alex Carey (65) joined Webster on the crease and all three ended up with half-centuries as Carey batted with the tail to take Australia to very solid score of 310 and the Baggy Green posted a target of 301 runs in front of the hosts. Shamar Joseph was the pick of the Carribean bowlers as he scalped a five-wicket haul. Chasing it, West Indies were no where in the game and they continued to lose wickets and eventually got bowled out for 141. Josh Hazlewood scalped a five-wicket haul while the remainder of the wickets were shared by Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Despite starting the game on backfoot, Australia completed a comeback and secured a clinical victory in the end.
