00:00Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has claimed victory over the recent conflict with Israel
00:06in his first public TV appearance since the ceasefire.
00:10The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency says it has evidence Iran's nuclear program was severely damaged
00:16as the assessment of U.S. strikes impact continued.
00:21As EU leaders of the 27 countries gathered in Brussels for a summit to discuss competitiveness,
00:28the Middle East and support for Ukraine, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's attention
00:34was firmly fixed on economy and trade.
00:50Ahead of the summit Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced
00:54that 95% of Hungarians taking part in a non-binding survey oppose Ukraine's joining the EU.
01:19The situation in the Middle East is said to be wrangled over by leaders who will call for a ceasefire in Gaza,
01:27but some countries are pushing for firmer action on Israel
01:31after a review of EU-Israel Association Agreement indicated breaches of human rights in Gaza.
01:38That the people of Europe find it incomprehensible that Europe does not seem to be in a position
01:46to pressure on Israel and leverage on Israel to stop this war in Gaza,
01:54to stop the continuing slaughter of children and innocent civilians.
01:59Leaders are also said to agree on boosting the bloc's defense industry.
02:11NATO leaders on Wednesday confirmed their commitment to more than double defense spending by 2035,
02:19banding wards like Crucial, Momentos and Quantum Lip.
02:23Members said that they were united against profound security challenges,
02:28singling out the long-term threats posed by Russia and terrorism.
02:33The resolutions came even as U.S. President Donald Trump faced questions at the summit
02:38about the Ukraine wars, something he described as being hard for him to solve.
02:44Because it's more difficult than people would have any idea,
02:49Vladimir Putin has been more difficult.
02:52Frankly, I had some problems with Zelenskyy, you may have read about him,
02:55and it's been more difficult than other wars.
02:58By the end of the summit, allies in a joint statement committed to spending 3.5% of GDP
03:04on core defense spending to buy military hardware and maintain troops.
03:10However, their statements did not include a condemnation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine
03:15as it had a year ago.
03:18Trump, who had always castigated European allies for not spending enough on their own defense,
03:23held the decision taken at the summit in The Hague.
03:26The U.S. President described it as a big win for Europe and Western civilization.
03:34Authorities in the occupied West Bank say three Palestinians were shot dead
03:39after dozens of Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village close to Ramallah.
03:45The incident, which happened Wednesday night, was captured on footage
03:49and showed Palestinians fleeing as gunfire could be heard,
03:54along with a burning car and house.
03:57One injured Palestinian described the incident.
04:00The Israeli military said forces deployed to the summit,
04:05the Israeli military said forces deployed to the summit of the country,
04:10the Israeli military said forces deployed to the summit.
04:13The Israeli military said forces deployed to the scene found settlers and villagers throwing stones at each other.
04:34It said soldiers opened fire and that some people were killed and wounded as a result.
04:39On Thursday, relatives and families held funerals for the three Palestinians killed when Jewish settlers attacked the West Bank town.
04:48Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said Iran emerged, quote, victorious from the recent conflict with Israel in his first public appearance since the U.S. brokered ceasefire was declared.
05:02He said if the United States had not intervened, the Israeli regime would have been utterly destroyed.
05:08Khamenei then went on to say the U.S. achieved no gains from this war and that Iran delivered, quote, a slap in the face to America by targeting one of its military bases in Qatar.
05:33The Israeli's Supreme Court was a significant police officer in the region.
05:36The Israeli government has an opportunity in Australia, in the region.
05:38A vital situation in the country, and of course, brings to each other's effect.
05:39But if you want to take a while, this reality is not a small decision.
05:40This reality is not a big scenario.
05:42However, this reality is a deadly scenario.
05:43In the future, this reality is a reality that is a great scenario.
05:44and he will give up every time and every time he will give up,
05:51this is not a bad thing, it is a big thing.
05:55In the next one, this is a good thing,
06:00when the force of the enemy is to get the burden of the enemy,
06:07the burden of the enemy is to be above.
06:14Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Pentagon's top leaders doubled down on how destructive the
06:20U.S. attacks had been on Iran.
06:22U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseff said Trump created the conditions to end the war
06:26by, quote, obliterating Tehran's nuclear capabilities.
06:33The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, says U.S. strikes caused severe damage to
06:39Iran's nuclear facilities after a leaked report downplayed the extent of the operation.
06:46According to CIA Director John Ratcliffe, key Iranian nuclear sites had been destroyed
06:51and would have to be rebuilt over the course of years.
06:55But the CIA chief stopped short of declaring that Iran's nuclear program had been outrightly
07:01eliminated.
07:03The new intelligence assessment comes a day after a leaked early assessment from the Defense
07:09Intelligence Agency played down the extent of the destruction and concluded that key
07:15components of Iran's nuclear program would be restarted in months.
07:21Israel had been carrying out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities for days leading up to the
07:26U.S. military operation but claimed to need the U.S. 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs to finish
07:33the job.
07:38Flights were cancelled in Brussels Airport as a general strike over the federal government's
07:43plans to reform and cut pensions took place.
07:46Hundreds of departing flights were cancelled and rescheduled for the coming days as many
07:51security and airport staff participated in planned protests.
07:55Brussels Airport, Belgium's main hub, only received 103 incoming flights on Wednesday, a sharp drop-off
08:01from the more than 260 flights originally planned to arrive.
08:05The airport now expects a few days of extremely high demand as it recovers from the strikes'
08:10disruptions.
08:11For all the annuleringen today, we have tried to do so many passengers as possible for the
08:16next days.
08:17Tomorrow, it will be a lot harder than initially, 12,000 extra passengers.
08:23And on Friday, we have 2,000 passengers more than initially.
08:27Further south, Charleroi Airport, a major European hub for low-cost airlines also cancelled all
08:42flights, citing a lack of staff.
08:49Hundreds of thousands participated in protests across the country to oppose the government's
08:53plans to raise retirement age and revise pensions.
08:57The Belgian government wants to raise retirement age for all civil servants to 66 to align it
09:02with the private sector, as it says the rising life expectancy is causing a surge in costs.
09:07I think it's very important that half of the race will raise our pensions and that we will
09:16have less pensions, and that we will probably buy tanks with that money and other things to
09:22carry war.
09:24Belgian Prime Minister Bart Deweyver says reforms are needed to also address the large federal
09:29budget deficit which violates EU rules.
09:32The country is also committed to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP as per the new
09:37NATO obligations adopted on Wednesday in the summit in The Hague.
09:44How X's AI chatbots struggle to fact-check the Israel-Iran conflict.
09:52Users have been turning to AI chatbots to inform themselves about the 12-day conflict between
09:58Israel and Iran, which now seems to have subsided.
10:02But a new study shows that GROK, the free-to-use chatbot developed by Elon Musk's
10:07ex-AI, has been misleading users with inconsistent and incorrect claims.
10:14This video, claiming to show the destruction from a retaliatory Iranian attack on Tel Aviv
10:19airport, is AI-generated.
10:21We, here at EuroVerify, have previously debunked it.
10:25But when asked to verify its authenticity, GROK replied that it was likely real footage, not
10:31AI-generated.
10:32At EuroVerify, we identified several more instances in which GROK falsely describes AI-generated
10:40videos as authentic.
10:41We also detected instances of GROK linking completely unrelated videos to the conflict.
10:48GROK describes this video, which shows festival-goers at Hellfest in France, as showing Israelis fleeing
10:56the conflict at the Taba border crossing with Egypt.
11:00And GROK also alleges that this video of an explosion in Malaysia shows an Iranian missile
11:05hitting Tel Aviv on June the 19th.
11:08Researchers at the Digital Forensic Research Lab say that GROK grounds its responses on media
11:14reports that quickly become outdated due to the fast-paced nature of the conflict.
11:19The chatbot also consistently fails to corroborate the authenticity of sources.
11:23For example, it's claimed that accounts that are spreading disinformation on X are official,
11:29governmental or military accounts.
11:32Experts say users are increasingly reliant on these tools for fact-checking.
11:36Yet, these tools are in fact amplifying disinformation and conspiracies.
