00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has lashed out at both Israel and Iran,
00:04accusing them both of violating a ceasefire he'd announced in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
00:10The European controversy continues over whether or not hand luggage should be free in the cabin when travelling by air.
00:17U.S. President Donald Trump has slammed Iran and Israel after both sides were reported to have broken a ceasefire deal.
00:34Speaking to reporters before departing for the NATO summit at The Haag,
00:38he said he was especially unhappy with Israel for dropping, quote,
00:42the biggest load we've seen on Iran shortly after the agreement.
00:45Well, we basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard
00:52that they don't know what the fuck they're doing. Do you understand that?
00:58Meanwhile, the United States' most advanced aircraft carrier has left its base in Virginia
01:03for a regularly scheduled deployment that could put it near Israel.
01:08The U.S. was already planning to deploy the USS Gerald R. Ford
01:12when American airplanes bombed Iranian nuclear sites early on Sunday, supporting Israel's goals.
01:20The Ford is sailing for the European Theater of Command with nearly 4,500 American sailors aboard.
01:26A ceasefire in the so-called 12-day war between Iran and Israel was announced by the White House early Tuesday morning.
01:37However, there have been ongoing reports of strikes and missiles launched by both sides.
01:42Although it's on the verge of collapsing, the ceasefire was called a day after Iran launched missiles
01:48targeting the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar, the largest U.S. military base in the region,
01:54in retaliation for the U.S. bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday.
01:58President Trump, who brokered the agreement, stated that both sides have violated the ceasefire agreement
02:04and expressed his frustration on social media as the fighting resumed despite his efforts.
02:10The situation remains unstable at this time.
02:13Here in Doha, it's business as usual, with most people returning to work,
02:17but with a sense of caution still in the air.
02:20The airspace has been reopened and flights to and from Qatar have resumed.
02:24For now, citizens and residents of the Gulf state are united with the Qatar government,
02:30backing its calls for a return to diplomacy in the Middle East.
02:33In a show of resilience, they continue with their daily lives and make plans for the summer months.

02:45At least 25 people were killed after Israeli troops fired at a crowd of Palestinians
02:50waiting for aid trucks in central Gaza on Tuesday.
02:54The United Nations Rights Office has criticized the Israeli army
02:58and said the weaponization of food in the strip constitutes a war crime.
03:03The head of the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees, UNRWA, also spoke out on Tuesday.
03:09They called the aid mechanism a death trap.
03:11The newly created so-called aid mechanism is an abomination that humiliates and degrades desperate people.
03:23It is a death trap costing more lives than it saves.
03:29Humanitarian principles need to be reinstated.
03:33At least 410 people have been killed at aid distribution sites
03:38since the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation started operating at the end of May.
03:43That is according to a report by the United Nations Rights Office.
03:48Israeli forces have repeatedly been accused of opening fire at crowds in desperate need of food.
03:54Israel's military claims it fired warning shots at people who they consider
03:58to have approached its forces in a, quote, suspicious manner.
04:03The UN Rights Office called for an urgent and impartial investigation into each of the killings
04:09and urged Israel to allow the entry of food and aid into the strip.
04:17The Japanese military announced that it had conducted a missile test
04:21for the first time on the country's own territory.
04:24Around 300 soldiers took part in the exercise hosted by the Ground Self-Defense Force's 1st Artillery Brigade.
04:33Officials said they fired at an unmanned boat about 40 kilometers from the island of Hokkaido.
04:39The test was conducted as Japan accelerates its military build-up
04:43to acquire strike-back capabilities as a deterrence to China.
04:47Nearby China has increased its number of medium-range ballistic missiles
04:53capable of striking U.S. military bases in Japan, according to the Pentagon.
04:59North Korea has also carried out missile tests
05:03which sent short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.
05:07Later this year, Japan intends to deploy long-range cruise missiles, including tomahawks.
05:13It's unprecedented.
05:22American conservative organizations close to the MAGA movement have been lobbying MEPs.
05:28At least that's according to a new report by anti-corruption group Transparency International EU.
05:33MEPs, mainly non-alliant or members of the far-right group Europe of Sovereign Nations,
05:38are said to have met with conservative organizations such as Republicans for National Renewal and the Heritage Foundation.
05:46Usually those are organizations that are very much stand for a quite climate-skeptic position,
05:51and they lobby for fossil fuel, for example,
05:54and of course also they're very much against the whole tech regulation that the EU has adopted in recent years,
06:00such as the European Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act.
06:04And one of the sort of the main topics that you can actually see directly into the meetings is issues around free speech.
06:11So they say we defend free speech, so we cannot have this regulation.
06:14ADF International, a US-based Christian anti-abortion organization,
06:19is also increasingly active in the European Parliament, according to the report.
06:24Although abortion is not European competence and falls to the member states,
06:28these organizations are reportedly trying to influence national debates via MEPs.
06:32It's an organization that is sort of ultra-conservative Christian that lobbies for against abortion.
06:40And this is also a subject that now appears in the MEP meetings that didn't exist before
06:45because they're now trying to push or to convince MEPs to adopt anti-abortionist stance.
06:50And they have, of course, also a much more favorable ground given the results of the last election.
06:55The report identifies around 20 meetings between MEPs and these American conservative organizations.
07:02But let's put things into perspective.
07:04In total, over 30,000 meetings between MEPs and lobbyists were recorded in one year.
07:11Of the 20 most active organizations in the European Parliament,
07:1515 represent commercial interests, with a very active presence from the fossil fuel sector.
07:21Only five represent NGOs.
07:22The European controversy continues over whether or not hand luggage should be free in the cabin when traveling by air.
07:37The European Parliament's Transport Committee adopted its position on Tuesday.
07:41For MEPs, air passengers should have the right to take two personal items with them, at no extra charge.
07:48To reach a compromise, however, they had to agree on the size of the luggage.
07:52What we found as a solution is to shrink the size of that hand luggage
07:58because it's more or less with the size of the personal item.
08:03But yes, the proposal of the Parliament is to be included in the price of the ticket.
08:09You can have your backpack or a lady purse, which is already the case now.
08:13You can have a personal item and a small hand luggage which should be the total amount of 100 centimetres in length, height and depth.
08:23The European Consumers Organization welcomed the vote which was adopted by a very large majority.
08:29The organisation believes that this vote is perfectly in line with the court of justice ruling that hand luggage of a reasonable size cannot be subject to additional charges.
08:40For its part, Airlines for Europe, which represents 17 airlines, believes that MEPs have taken advantage of this vote to add in a roundabout way
08:52amendments that deprive passengers of their choice and their ability to decide which services they want to pay for.
08:59The meaning of the MEPs' vote runs counter to the decision taken earlier this month by the 27 transport ministers.
09:06The member states propose that airlines should be able to charge for hand luggage when baggage allowances are clearly displayed.
09:13The inter-institutional battle continues.
09:16A large fire with multiple fronts rages uncontrollably in the Greek island of Chios for the third day.
09:30So far, over 65,000 acres have been reduced to ashes, according to unofficial estimates, and a total of 444 firefighters are battling the flames.
09:41The island has been declared in a state of emergency, and police presence has been strengthened, as officials said the possibility of organized arson is being seriously considered.
09:55The evacuations of settlements continues for precautionary reasons, with residents expressing their fear and concern about the fire.
10:03Smoke emitted by the fires in Chios has had a significant impact on the atmosphere, according to national data.
10:29It's said the clouds are now moving south, towards the cyclades.
10:40145 people have been reported being assaulted with syringes during this year's Fête de la musique festival in France, with the targets being mainly young women.
10:50Several people have been hospitalized after being stabbed, and 12 suspects have been detained.
10:57It's a great phenomenon, even more than the previous years.
11:01And it was optimized by this call on social networks to kill women during the Fête de la musique festival.
11:09And another sanitary risk, the fact of killing women, especially if these seringes are passed from hand to hand.
11:18Officials have yet to say if these were cases of needles spiking with date rape drugs, such as Rohypnol or GHB.
11:25France's Interior Ministry has said it is taking the incident, quote, very seriously, and that an investigation is ongoing.
