00:00U.S. President Donald Trump arrived at the Royal Palace in The Hague where he will be staying for
00:07the NATO summit. He was warmly welcomed by the Netherlands King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima
00:12as they convened with other NATO leaders for a dinner. Speaking at the dinner, the Dutch monarch
00:18urged Trump to continue standing by Ukraine, reminding him of the grave threat Russia poses
00:23to NATO. Mr. President, it means so much to us to welcome you in our home tonight. We cherish
00:31the bonds of friendship that will always unite our nations. And Ukraine, which for years has
00:37been embroiled in a daily struggle, making great sacrifices to defend its freedoms and
00:43ours, is welcome too. The people of Ukraine, with whom we feel such close ties, deserve
00:50our continuing support.
00:53This year's summit is dubbed as one of the most significant in years. Leaders are expected
00:58to decide on a crucial proposal to increase defense spending from current targets of 2%
01:03of GDP to 5%. The proposal comes after months of Trump's pressure and threats of pulling the
01:09U.S. out of NATO if other members don't, quote, step up.
01:14For decades, the United States sought to get Europe to truly step up. Now, European allies
01:21and Canada will equalize their defense spending with the United States. So let me salute President
01:28Trump's longstanding leadership in calling for NATO to increase defense spending.
01:34But Trump continued to court controversy even aboard Air Force One on his way to the summit.
01:40The U.S. president renewed doubts over Washington's commitment to the alliance as he made cryptic
01:45remarks regarding NATO's mutual defense clause. Questioned by reporters on his commitment to
01:51NATO's Article 5, Trump said, there's numerous definitions, but I'm committed to being their
01:56friend. Well, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this NATO summit here at The Hague would be the
02:04Trump summit because of the push by Donald Trump for NATO allies to agree to spend 5% of GDP on defense
02:11by 2035, the next 10 years, which is no mean feat because you're talking about tens of billions of
02:17dollars or euros. In addition, we saw the statement from all allies at the end, which is five paragraphs
02:23long. Normally, these things run into several pages and chief among them is an ironclad commitment
02:29for all allies to Article 5, which is the article in the NATO Charter, which says an attack on one
02:34is an attack on all. This is interesting because Donald Trump himself had cast doubt about America's
02:39commitment to this article just before he touched down. And also very interesting is the role of Ukraine
02:44in this statement. It's quite low down about the fourth paragraph. But it also says that Ukraine's
02:50security contributes to NATO security, which I think is a bit of a watering down compared to
02:55what other NATO allies had said to me in the past few weeks. They had said that they'd hoped that
02:59Ukraine's security would be inextricable to NATO security. But Russia also in there as a long-term
03:06enemy or a long-term concern and threat to NATO. Many people would also say it's an immediate threat
03:12to. Shona Murray, Euronews, The Hague.
03:20It's unprecedented. American conservative organizations close to the MAGA movement have
03:28been lobbying MEPs. At least that's according to a new report by anti-corruption group Transparency
03:34International EU. MEPs, mainly non-alliant or members of the far-right group Europe of Sovereign
03:40Nations, are said to have met with conservative organizations such as Republicans for National
03:46Renewal and the Heritage Foundation. Usually those organizations that are very much stand for
03:51quite climate skeptic position and they lobby for fossil fuel for example. And of course also they're
03:58very much against the whole tech regulation that the EU has adopted in recent years such as the
04:03European Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act. And one of the sort of the main topics that
04:09you can actually see directly into the meetings is issues around free speech. So they say we defend
04:14free speech so we cannot have this regulation. ADF International, a US-based Christian anti-abortion
04:20organization, is also increasingly active in the European Parliament, according to the report.
04:26Although abortion is not European competence and falls to the member states, these organizations
04:31are reportedly trying to influence national debates via MEPs.
04:35It's an organization that is sort of ultra-conservative Christian that lobbies for against abortion and
04:43this is also a subject that now appears in the MEP meetings that didn't exist before because they're
04:48now trying to push or to convince MEPs to adopt anti-abortionist stance and they have of course also a much
04:54more favorable ground given the results of the last election. The report identifies around 20 meetings between
05:01MEPs and these American conservative organizations. But let's put things into perspective. In total,
05:07over 30,000 meetings between MEPs and lobbyists were recorded in one year. Of the 20 most active
05:14organizations in the European Parliament, 15 represent commercial interests with a very active presence
05:21from the fossil fuel sector. Only five represent NGOs. Global turmoil and widespread regional conflicts
05:33are echoing in Brussels. Talks on defense issues between MEPs and lobbyists are surging according to
05:40data revealed today by Transparency International. From June 2024 to June 2025, there was a total of 197
05:52meetings between authorities and defense firms between authorities and defense firms, consultants
05:56and trade associations. That's nearly three times as much as the entire previous EU mandate when only 78
06:05such talks took place, Transparency told Euronews. German MEPs and rapporteurs were the most engaged, with 55
06:14meetings. Bulgaria placed second with 19, followed by Spain, Finland, Italy and Denmark. Most major defense
06:24manufacturers actually started increasing their budget for EU lobbying in the wake of the full-scale
06:30invasion of Ukraine. Collectively, the EU's seven top players spent around 5.5 million euros in 2023,
06:4034% more from the previous year. Airbus was the biggest spender with nearly 2 million euros.
06:47FACT CHECKING CLAIMS ABOUT THE PANTHER ON THE LOOSE IN BULGARIA
07:01Bulgaria has been on high alert in recent days following the alleged sighting of a large
07:06black cat or panther in the eastern city of Shumen. Authorities began searching for the animal after a
07:13video appeared on social media showing a black silhouette with a tail roaming a park near the
07:19monument to the founders of the Bulgarian state. Such big cats generally feed off animals like rodents
07:25and deer. And while there have been reported black cat attacks on humans in Europe before, they are
07:31unverified. Some wild big cat sightings in the likes of the UK and Spain ended up being likely exotic pet
07:39escapes, while similar occurrences in the Netherlands and Germany turned out to be misidentified domestic
07:44cats or boars. Regardless, the situation in Bulgaria has prompted a stream of images, memes and dubious
07:52claims online worthy of debunking. To begin with, yes, Bulgarian authorities really do suspect that a large
07:58black cat is on the loose. According to Euronews' Bulgarian service, regional police in Shumen have
08:04warned against visiting the park where the animal was reportedly seen. The head of Bulgaria's Central
08:09Balkan National Park also said it has enlisted the help of the hunting sector and experts from South
08:15Africa as authorities continue with their search. Another video has since emerged, allegedly showing
08:21the much younger animal wandering around the Bulgarian countryside two years ago. However,
08:26Euroverify spoke to big cat experts who said that it's more likely a domestic cat in this video,
08:32because big cats typically have larger heads and longer, sleeker tails. When considering the search
08:38for the animal in general, they said it's possible that it escaped from captivity, lining up with police
08:44suspicions that it'd run away from an illegal private zoo owned by organized crime figures.
08:50In a stunning political upset, Democratic Socialist Zohran Memdani declared victory in New York City's
09:03mayoral primary on Tuesday. With most ballots counted, the 33-year-old held a significant lead over former
09:10New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was the favorite to win. Cuomo has since conceded defeat in the
09:16race. The result is seen as a litmus test for the Democratic Party, pitting a young progressive against an
09:24establishment moderate. Mamdani, backed by figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, campaigned on free
09:31public transport and new taxes on the wealthy. Cuomo ran on a promise to restore order in the city, but was
09:38hampered by a sexual harassment scandal that forced his resignation as governor in 2021.
09:45A general election to decide the final outcome will be held in November, though this week's primary
09:50is widely seen as the race that effectively decides who will be the mayor. While Cuomo concedes the primary,
09:58he told the New York Times he's still considering running in November's general election as an
10:02independence. Mamdani is now on track to become the city's first Muslim and Indian-American man.
10:21The security situation in the Baltic is tense and therefore it has been decided by Danish parliament
10:41and Danish government to improve the capabilities of Danish defense and this includes in the maritime
10:48domain and of course this includes our maritime domain awareness.
11:03We're seeing people smuggle people, weapons, illegal fishing, narcotics and any damage to critical
11:11infrastructure. So undersea cables and pipelines, it needs to be seen. It's currently happening because
11:15no one's observing it. So what we're doing with CellDrome, fitting with sensors, going to places,
11:19being eyes and ears, but we previously didn't have eyes and ears.
11:45Wow!!
11:50Brucepechax,
11:51if you liked the video with me, I wouldn't have yet seen this movie and have no idea where
11:55you can see, but we can see that.
