00:00The Nets then used their first of five picks last night

00:04to surprisingly take Yegor Dimmons,

00:07the point guard from BYU who spent one year in Provo,

00:11his nationality, though, from Russia.

00:14NDRS, if you were watching the Sports Grid draft special last night

00:17and you were tuning into Kevin Walsh,

00:19an all-time genuine reaction.

00:21Not a big fan of the draft profile

00:24or NBA evaluation of Yegor Dimmons.

00:27And Kevin let everybody know about it last night.

00:31The Nets using the eighth pick on Dimmons, rather surprising as well.

00:35It was surprising.

00:36And sometimes we get surprises in the draft and you say,

00:38oh, I wonder what they liked and we didn't see that.

00:40Maybe the franchise saw it and saw the bigger picture of where he fits in.

00:44But I do get a kick out of things too,

00:45because it's funny that's Brooklyn, right?

00:47And the draft was in Brooklyn.

00:48Like, hey, man, let's make a splash with that top 10 pick

00:51that everybody's going to like.

00:52It reminds me so many of like the New York Jets,

00:54like the 1980s and early 1990s,

00:56just taking tight ends that people were furious at.

00:58Like, oh, the Jets are going to Jets here at this point here.

01:01We're not saying this is going to be a bad pick and how it turns out.

01:03But at that position, nobody really expected that to come up.

01:06And I just remember that, you know,

01:07a meme that's making his way around.

01:09The guy in the Nets jersey in the building was mouthing at the camera,

01:13who is this guy?

01:14Really made me laugh.

01:15Because when you're expecting a top 10 pick,

01:17it's supposed to be a rousing success.

01:19And it might be down the line.

01:21But in the impact of it with the players that were on the board

01:24for that guy to go at that point, yeah,

01:25Brooklyn fans weren't too happy to get on the Sports Grid network last night.

01:28It's like, you know pretty much who's going to go in what area

01:31based on the odds mark and what you're hearing from.

01:33I don't think too many people are like, you know what?

01:35Demmon's that guy I know is going to Brooklyn in the top 10.

01:37That was unexpected.
