00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:04Located on south bank of the River Thames, the London Eye is one of the UK's most iconic
00:09landmarks. Open to the public in March 2000, it was originally built to celebrate the new
00:15millennium. Standing at 135 metres tall, it was once the world's tallest observation
00:22wheel. Each of the 32 high-tech glass capsules offers a 360-degree view of the capital, including
00:31famous sights like Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and even Windsor Castle on a clear day. A
00:38full rotation takes about 30 minutes, giving visitors plenty of time to take in the London
00:44skyline. Though initially planned as a temporary structure, the London Eye became so popular
00:50drawing over 3 million visitors a year, it's now a permanent fixture.
