Still a cloudy picture to start the afternoon for much of the UK, with light showers possible for western Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. There may also be some drizzly outbreaks over parts of southern Wales and Devon and Cornwall during this period. For many however it will be much brighter, especially across northern Wales and the southeast of England - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the afternoon of 25/06/2025. 00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Another warm and muggy day to come, and could this lead
00:05to a risk of thunderstorms later? Well, for now, this afternoon there is still plenty
00:10of cloud around, still a chance of some very light showers just skirting into western parts
00:14of Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, northern parts of England could also see the odd light
00:19shower or two, and perhaps some drizzly outbreaks just skirting across southern parts of Wales
00:23and Devon and Cornwall this afternoon as well. But for many, it is going to be much brighter,
00:27plenty of sunny spells, particularly across the southeast, and that is where it's going
00:31to feel particularly warm. Highs around 28 degrees Celsius, but a chance in some localised areas
00:36we could see a degree or two higher, and for most, it is still going to have that very muggy
00:41feel in the air, and that is going to continue as we head into this evening with plenty of
00:47cloud, outbreaks of rain once again skirting their way in from the west. But it's really
00:51across the southeast where we need to keep our eye on some heavy, possibly thundery showers
00:55pushing up here, particularly across parts of Kent, East Anglia, as we head towards the
01:00early part of the morning, but also a chance they could be slightly further east and miss
01:04us altogether. So one we do need to keep an eye on, but nevertheless, most should be gone
01:08by the early hours of the morning. But for many, it is going to be a cloudy and quite a damp
01:13start to the day, and quite a sultry night on offer, many towns and cities not dropping
01:17much below the mid to high teens.
01:19So for the first part of the day, yes, it is set to be unsettled. Outbreaks of quite
01:25heavy rain at times, particularly across Scotland, as this next system pushes its way eastwards,
01:30but it's fairly fast moving, so by the time we reach the afternoon, particularly from the
01:34west, we're going to see a return of those bright and sunny spells. And behind this area
01:38of rain, a much fresher feel to the air as well, so not feeling quite as muggy, though
01:43it is still going to be feeling warm in the sunshine, particularly across the central and southeastern
01:47parts of the UK. Highs still reaching around 25 degrees Celsius here, so a degree or two
01:52down compared to this afternoon, so still feeling warm in the sunshine, but not quite as muggy.
01:58And then for the rest of the week, we do have a ridge of high pressure building to the south,
02:02so once again pushing in a return of that warmer air, so that fresher feeling day as we
02:06head into Thursday is going to be quite a brief interlude. And notice low pressure is never
02:10too far behind, so still some rain on the cards to finish off the week and as we head
02:15into the weekend. But of course, for more updates on that, you can subscribe to our YouTube channel.
