00:00But then you say, well, you might make a mistake or you might not understand something.
00:05Yeah, I got you.
00:06But the people are so enthralled for the fact that you're participating.
00:10You're there.
00:11You get points for that.
00:12There's like a handicap and a hedging and a curve.
00:16And everyone is more than willing to carry you along, to give you some grammar, some
00:21additional vocabulary, a couple expressions.
00:24My problem is I don't get jokes in Spanish, or it takes me five years to get it.
00:27But that's cute.
00:29It's still innocent.
00:30It's still raw.
00:32You're not so rehearsed.
00:33And the conversation isn't so mundane that you space out.
00:38When you are bilingual, you are really concentrating in the moment.
00:41You're translating.
00:42You're figuring.
00:43You feel smarter.
00:44It's like a recharging of a battery.
00:46You're really in there.
00:47And so for somebody with attention deficit and attention spans and can be bored quickly if
00:55someone's not juggling in front of me, this really allowed me to live in the now and to
01:00really be there in life.
01:03And it surprised me.
01:06It's kind of weird.
01:07It's almost like surfing.
01:09You know, eventually you can kind of know where the board is.
01:11You kind of get a couple moves.
01:13But there's nothing better than a three-minute conversation, a five-minute conversation.
01:17You're like, wait a second.
01:18I'm really surfing.
01:19Next thing you know, you've been talking for two hours with someone over coffee, hanging
01:22out.
01:23And you feel that you have more culture.
01:26You feel enriched.
01:27You want to start looking at paintings now and write poetry.
01:31I mean.
