At today's House DOGE Committee hearing, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) questioned Emily DiVito, Senior Advisor for Economic Policy at the Groundwork Collaborative.
Transcript
00:00Thank you, and I look forward to your questions.
00:03I now recognize myself for five minutes of questions.
00:08The Doge website details much of the wasteful spending it hits the brakes on,
00:14and it has an incredible list of top hits.
00:17Some of the spending is not just embarrassing,
00:20but it is funding actually the genital mutilation of our children,
00:25forcing the American taxpayers to pay for it.
00:27A $620,000 HHS grant for hashtag Transcendent Health,
00:34adapting an LGBT plus inclusive teen prevention program for transgender boys.
00:41$620,000 from HHS.
00:45It's absurd.
00:46This is disgusting, and it facilitates a lie.
00:50Here's another one.
00:51A $2,000 NIH grant for cross-sex steroid therapy and cardiovascular risk in transgender females.
01:02This is another absurd grant that was handed out.
01:06A $120,000 NIH grant for personalized 3D avatar tool development for measurement of body perception across gender identities.
01:18Here's another absurd grant that, again, tells the lie that there's more than two genders.
01:24There's only two, male and female.
01:27That's it.
01:28Something else that the American people should know about,
01:31these radical extremist judges that are playing politics from the bench,
01:36a judge ruled that this has to be protected.
01:38This is a HHS program for gender-affirming care in young people.
01:47Again, the only thing that affirms gender is the fact that there's only two sexes, male and female,
01:53and the American people should never have to pay for that lie.
01:57Ms. DeVito, in your testimony, you talk about so-called failures of DOGE, in your opinion.
02:02But do you support the federal government funding HHS and NIH studies that promote the genital mutilation of children?
02:10Do you support forcing Americans to pay for genital mutilation of children?
02:15Yes or no, Ms. DeVito?
02:16Ms. Thank you for your question.
02:17I think we all agree that the government should work for people.
02:20No, I asked you, do you support genital mutilation of children and the American people having to pay for it?
02:25That's a yes or no question.
02:26Ms. I think government research is responsible for all sorts of innovations that we employ today.
02:31So, for the record, you do support the American people paying for top and bottom surgeries of children.
02:37Cutting off the breast of young girls, teenage girls, and castrating teenage boys.
02:44You support the American people paying for that?
02:46I think government research is incredibly important.
02:48That's not research, Ms. DeVito.
02:50That's mutilating kids' bodies before they're old enough to vote,
02:54before they're old enough to join the military,
02:56before they're old enough to even be adults.
02:58That's what you're saying the American people should pay for.
03:01Just so you know, Ms. DeVito, and I'm very proud to announce,
03:06that I have a bill called Protect Children's Innocence Act
03:08that will criminalize sex changes on children.
03:12And that bill will see a vote on the House floor.
03:14And I look forward to my Republican colleagues,
03:17and hopefully Democrats that come to their senses,
03:20voting yes for that bill.
03:21because it's absolutely repulsive and disgusting,
03:25and America voted against that this past election.
03:29Sick.
03:32Mr. Dickerson, how do we implement cuts and appropriations moving forward
03:38to prevent these agencies from ever being able to fund these studies
03:42that promote the mutilation of children's bodies ever again?
03:45I think what you need to do is ensure those riders are included
03:50in the appropriations bills that are passed to clarify to the agencies
03:54that even though they have never actually received authorization for these,
03:59so they shouldn't have actually done it in the first place,
04:01but if they need that funding rider to restrict American taxpayer funds
04:06for going to those terribly divisive and harmful things.
04:10Yeah, permanently, right?
04:12Exactly.
04:13Other egregious abuses of funds.
04:15A $10 million Department of Education grant
04:18to the Virginia Commonwealth University for faculty workshops
04:22on decolonizing the curriculum.
04:24A nearly $700,000 National Science Foundation grant
04:28to the University of Tennessee for Black and Latinx parents
04:32leading reform in advancing racial justice in elementary mathematics.
04:36A project that could provide a model for other communities and schools
04:40seeking to advance racial justice in mathematics and education.
04:45This is insane, absurd, and it's racist in itself.
04:48Math is math.
04:49A $500,000 EPA grant, green jobs,
04:52growing a new generation of environmental justice problem solvers.
04:56All of this stuff is far-left ideology,
04:58and the American people should not be paying for it.
05:01It looks like my time's up, so with that,
05:05I'll yield to the ranking member, Stansbury, for five.
