At Wednesday's House DOGE Committee hearing, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) decried federal funding going to NGOs.

00:00I now recognize myself for closing remarks.
00:03There's a lot of things that aren't normal, and that's using the power of the government
00:07to fund your friends and your family members and to employ former bureaucrats to enact
00:16policies that invade our country and hurt our energy, our American energy.
00:21Yeah, those things are not normal, and that's why we're talking about them here today.
00:26As we've heard here today, the American taxpayer dollars are being laundered through the revolving
00:31door of NGOs and Democrat officials.
00:35These pay-to-play schemes are so deep-rooted in the system and are such well-oiled machines,
00:41and they must be dismantled immediately.
00:44To be clear, we support charitable NGOs that help Americans in times of need, such as during
00:50the aftermath of wildfires in California and the hurricane in western North Carolina, Georgia
00:57and eastern Tennessee.
00:59We do not support politically connected NGOs who rake in billions of federal tax dollars
01:05to serve the Democrat Party and their friends and their priorities.
01:09We do not support Democrat officials creating slush funds, writing grants and contracts and
01:14deciding who those funds go to, and then going to work at the same NGO that it just awarded
01:22those funds to.
01:23Yeah, that's not normal.
01:25That is the reality of what we are facing and what we face for the past four years.
01:30As our witnesses stated, these corrupt NGOs do not serve the American people.
01:36They serve big government and the Democrat Party.
01:39If the American people support their climate and other woke causes, they can choose to personally
01:46donate to these entities.
01:49They can pay for it themselves.
01:51The American people are the most generous people in the entire world.
01:56In 2023 alone, Americans privately donated over $557 billion of their own money.
02:07They should be the ones who decide where their money goes.
02:11They can choose if they want to donate to a nonprofit and which nonprofit.
02:16The American people are not just generous with their money, but they're generous with
02:20their time as well.
02:21In 2023, nearly 76 million Americans, almost 30% of Americans, formally volunteered through
02:29an organization.
02:32The government didn't make them do this.
02:35They did it on their own.
02:36The government didn't hold a gun to their head and make them volunteer.
02:40The government did not hold a gun to their head and make them donate their own money.
02:45They did it on their own.
02:47However, the government is forcing them to pay for things that they don't support and they
02:53don't want happening.
02:55The United States is $36 trillion in debt.
02:59In 2024, the government spent over $1.8 trillion more than it took it in.
03:05And in 2025, the interest in our debt is expected to exceed $1 trillion.
03:11Our government is broke.
03:13Our government is going bankrupt.
03:15Our government is not a charity for the left to use to launder money through to their friends
03:22and to former government employees.
03:25Notice this.
03:26This is extremely important.
03:28There's a difference of what you heard on this committee today.
03:32Our Democrat colleagues believe taking money from the American people and forcing them to
03:38support the causes that they support is the right thing to do.
03:42They don't believe in the mission of this subcommittee, which is DOGE, which is delivering on government
03:49efficiency.
03:50And that is a mission that has been created in this administration, thankfully to President
03:55Trump, and it is a mission that we are continuing here on this subcommittee on oversight, and we're
04:01proud of it.
04:02As a matter of fact, we are delivering government efficiency, and we are proud to let everyone
04:08know that we will be voting next week for actual DOGE rescission cuts that this committee held
04:14hearings on.
04:15And that is producing results for the American people, because most of the time in Congress,
04:21all Congress does is to create more laws, create more regulations, and spend more of the American
04:27people's dollars.
04:28But right here on the DOGE subcommittee, thankfully to the hard work of its members and staff, we are
04:33actually making a difference, and we are going to be cutting government funding, government
04:39spending, government waste, fraud, and abuse.
04:43In closing, we are incredibly grateful to the Trump administration for directing all federal
04:48agencies to review all agency funding to NGOs.
04:53These actions taken by the Trump administration will finally provide long-overdue oversight over
04:59the revolving door of NGO corruption.
05:03And we will continue our work here on the DOGE subcommittee, no matter how much pitching
05:08of tantrums that we hear from our Democrat colleagues.
05:11We're proud of what we're doing, and we know the American people support it.
