Paschim Medinipur (West Bengal), June 22, 2025 (ANI): People in the Ghatal Municipality area face severe floods and waterlogging following heavy rainfall. Houses and shops in the area are submerged in rainwater. State’s Minister for irrigation and waterways Manas Ranjan Bhunia informed and said that “A total of 188 villages are affected It is inundated and marooned. About 2 lakh people are affected. The administration rescued and brought 2000 people to the rescue camp, and a community kitchen is run for the 2000 people. Two people have died in Chandrakona 1 and 2, each. They swept away in the heavy flow. Later, their dead bodies were recovered and rescued. Pregnant women and the snake bite cases were identified and brought to the hospital. SDRF, Civil Defence, and NDRF teams are operating to rescue the people from the marooned area".
