00:00Tell people about what the fight game is like up there in Connecticut and how well-represented you guys are.
00:05Dude, it's definitely underrated.
00:09There's a lot of hidden talent up here in the New England area in general.
00:13But then there's, you know, everybody thinks of New England as, you know, the New York area and Boston, Massachusetts, you know, up in Mass.
00:21Seeing all those guys coming out of there.
00:23And there's just, there's a pocket of really talented guys here in Connecticut.
00:27You know, one of your UFC, two of your UFC world champions are training right out of Bethel.
00:34And that would be Glover Teixeira and Alex Barrera.
00:37They're right in Bethel, Connecticut, down closer to the New York line.
00:40But there's a ton of guys up here.
00:43Tremendous amount of potential.
00:45And to be able to fight here at home at Mohegan Sun, you know, the support that I get from everybody around here is just incredible.
00:51It's what helps me be able to do what I do.
00:54I know some of that support, of course, coming from your own family.
00:58You talked about your sons being there.
00:59It was their birthday.
01:01So, they got to see a nice win for dad right before Father's Day as well.
01:03So, a good big combo weekend for the Porter family in general.
01:07You know, what's that like for you?
01:09I know, you know, some fighters kind of grapple with whether they bring their kids into fighting or whether they try to keep them away from it.
01:14Obviously, they know what dad does.
01:15They're there supporting you.
01:16You know, what's that like for you with your sons there watching you?
01:19It's a double-edged sword.
01:22You know, like everybody wants their kids to be able to fight and know how to.
01:27But, you know, anybody that's been in this game long enough knows that it's not all the glamour and everything that you see on TV.
01:33There's a lot of sacrifice, a lot of hard times, really high highs and really low lows.
01:38And I tell them all the time, I'll never push you to actually compete, but I will push you to learn because it's a valuable life skill to have.
01:46But should you decide one day, I will back you up just as much as you back me up and be there for every single step of the way.
01:54It took me a long time to wait for the right opportunity to decide, like, okay, yeah, you're old enough, you're mature enough, you have enough experience with this to be able to come witness it firsthand.
02:04You know, they've seen me fight on TV live a couple of times, not knowing what the outcome is going to be.
02:10And like you said, growing up around it, they're familiar with it.
02:13They know the pros and cons.
02:15They realize, you know, how glorious a win could be and how dangerous and painful a defeat could be.
02:21So it was an awesome chance to give them a little bit of a rite of passage, especially on their birthday, and to do it in such great fashion the day before Father's Day.
02:31Like you said, it couldn't have been a better weekend for this household.
02:39, and, for watching今日は, my friends andicas, we're all taking the time to do this.
02:43There's some cool stuff for the world.
02:45But if you're not, I'm fucking good.
02:47I've got this one.
02:49Because of all the battles that you have in the world with, I'll run many shells.
02:54Um, so it's a wonderful book.
02:57What do you guys do?
02:58What do you guys look around?
02:59I don't really look around.
03:01There's a wonderful book.
