00:04another hughes coming in the mix here hughes is 27 from liverpool 24 2024 pfl european light

00:11weight tournament runner up so now trying to get back in the mix after he lost to jacob

00:17kaskuba by fourth round tko last year trying to get back in this tournament trying to win it this

00:22time around we'll see if he can do that he took on defranco 30 year old belgian was making his pfl

00:26and lost two of his last three coming in hughes gets the victory here by second round ko two minutes

00:32and 46 seconds in there so one more step towards trying to get redemption and winning that title

00:37that he couldn't last year he is now 11 and 2 as you see him catch the kick throw the punch and then

00:42finish off his opponent great strikes by him to get the win we'll see what is next for him as he moves

00:48on after being 11 and 2 now five of those wins by ko tko the same way he won this fight also in that

00:56tournament the guy who would face hughes will be coming from the fight before him gino van steenis

01:01versus deckie mcallen now van steenis was 27 year old from spain training in belgium his younger brother

01:07he's the younger brother of the pfl middleweight castello van steenis he's uh making his pfl debut

01:12in this one going against mcallen 33 year old from ireland who is also making his pfl debut and who

01:20gets the victory it is van steenis continuing in the tradition of his brother in the pfl he gets his

01:25first win in the organization moving to six and one now and will face conor hughes in the semifinals

01:31that was a unanimous decision win for him 29 28 on all three judges cards so you know tight fight

01:37could have gone either way there with uh you know one more punch or kicker you know depending on what

01:42the judges saw could have swung the other way with the one round going uh to his opponent but he gets

01:47the call on all three judges cards and he moves on now to face conor hughes in the semifinals of the

01:53pfl europe lightweight tournament also part of that tournament was mark ewen versus alex chisov

01:58chisov was a 27 year old latvian nickname pretty boy not necessarily the nickname you want to have

02:04when you're a fighter because you know it makes it seem like you're not that tough but he it was his

02:07third pfl european season uh he lost the first match in both the previous two years so looking to

02:14improve him by that and get the victory this one going against you in the scott scottish fighter with

02:18one fight in belos for before this one chisov is the one who gets the victory so he gets that

02:22improvement instead of losing the first fight in the european tournament like he did the last two

02:26years he gets that first win by first round tko one minute and 33 seconds into the round there

02:32a good faith there some kicks some punches but his opponent goes down with that great kick

02:37something you know obviously probably an injury to the leg lets him get on top get the finish and now

02:42he moves on and moves to 11 and 3 in his career that's his seventh finish victory in his career

02:4810 of his 11 wins are by finish by you know kotko or submission so a guy who likes to get in there

02:55mix it up and doesn't like to go to the distance great job by him gets the victory in the first round

03:00early on in that fight and he'll face the winner of gavin hughes versus clodio parcella

03:05parcella from italy trains in dublin though so you know probably had a little bit of a hometown

03:09contingent even though not originally from the area had won three or four fights coming in

03:14going in there against gavin hughes parcella is the one who gets the victory though by unanimous

03:18decision 30 27 on one card 29 28 on two cards so a back and forth battle where he had more of the

03:24action war the control all the control according to one judge he gets the victory now he moves to

03:29six and two and he will face in the semi-finals chisov so a great lightweight opening round for the

03:37pfl europe we've seen some great fights from this side of the pond for the pfl last year we'll see

03:42if we see more of those going forward but a good start to them and some great performances there
