We are live at Bernie's Beach Bar in Hampton Beach, NH for Roadshow No. 6! Could the Celtics listen to offers for Jaylen and/or Jrue?
Transcript
00:00We'll talk about what Shams said about giant hauls that are being thrown at the Boston Celtics for Jalen Brown and for Drew Holliday, if they are interested, Curtis.
00:13Yeah, I mean, Wiggy and I have agreed on this.
00:16You don't prep the fan base for big changes in the second apron if it's just Drew Holliday or Porzingis.
00:21Right.
00:21This is Jalen Brown.
00:23He's going to be the guy that, I don't know if he gets dealt, but he's certainly on the market.
00:26Well, if you thought that people in mourning after Marcus Smart was annoying, just wait for me because I will be insufferable.
00:32Oh.
00:33But you figure, right, because when we had Wig on and he talked about that second apron and how difficult it is to stay there.
00:42Now you got Wig's talking about that.
00:45He owns the team.
00:46Now you got a new owner who's coming in and he's looking at a team next season that is going to be without their best player in Jason Tatum.
00:53And you know that you have to move on from some pieces.
00:57So you got to start looking, OK, how do we get that next potential dynasty run when Tatum comes back in two years?
01:08And what does that look like?
01:09And how do I save myself some money next year getting ready for that year?
01:14I just think you're setting up Joe Missoula for a tough road ahead because if you get rid of Jalen after he finally, and I put that all on Joe Missoula because he really did figure out how to handle the two Jays together and have them buy in.
01:25If you take away Jalen Brown and you're just expecting if you pluck and play somebody else, another superstar that you can bring in to create this new dynasty, who knows if Jason and him are going to mesh, if they're going to jive.
01:37And that could take a long time.
01:38So you're setting Joe Missoula up and new ownership for a few years of disappointment from the Celtics fan base.
01:45You're not really – the focus of the Celtics shouldn't be to prevent Joe Missoula from having a rough go at it.
01:52No, no, no.
01:52I'm just saying that if you're Joe Missoula, it's got to be in the back of your mind.
01:56If you are ownership, your job is to make sure that the fan base is happy, though.
02:00And if the next few seasons are duds, to go from championship to dud is going to be a tough break for Celtics fans, I think.
02:08I think they look at it as their job being, most importantly, to find a way to be competitive while making money.
02:17Yeah, no.
02:18The money part does nothing for me.
02:19Sorry.
02:21And I think if you were to take a –
02:22By the way, that's the first time you've ever said that in your life.
02:25Hey!
02:25That's the point.
02:26But if you were to poll the fans, who cares about how much money Wicks makes?
02:33Yeah, I don't –
02:33Who cares?
02:33No, no.
02:34I don't think the – again, I'm not talking about the fans.
02:37I'm talking about what I think they're going to do.
02:39Like, I think they're – and they're telling you it.
02:41Like, they're –
02:42Yeah, they're telling – I'm just – I'm sticking up for it.
02:44It's because they know – you're both right.
02:45It's because they know that the fans aren't going to like it.
02:47They're trying to get ahead of it and maybe do a trial balloon on it.
02:50I would also say that the Celtics of the 90s, when I grew up on, were always like 44 wins.
02:57Right.
02:57You know, outside of the years they tanked for Tim Duncan.
