The heat and sunshine extends nationwide through the rest of the day as high pressure pushes out to the North Sea, bringing heat from the south and allowing some showers to arrive from the west. Showers in the southwest tend to drift northeastwards into Wales, and one or two isolated showers across northern England and northeast Scotland, possibly thundery.
