00:00First let's start off with Pat and hit on online casino gaming in Massachusetts. I know this is a
00:06hot topic for us here on the show. Some states say yes, some states say no. Where does Massachusetts
00:12stand? Yeah, so to your point, yeah, a ton of states have been talking about online casino
00:16this year. Not much has happened in terms of legalization. Of course there's seven or eight
00:21states across the country that have it and it's been slow compared to sports betting getting
00:25rolling legally. But yeah, in Massachusetts we have Senator Paul Feeney and Rep Daniel
00:32Cahill. They've introduced a bill back in February in both of their respective chambers. It is
00:37now going to a joint hearing. So members of both the Senate and House will sit on a committee
00:43next Monday and talk about online casino in Massachusetts. Of course this is one of the
00:48most active states in terms of regulatory action. So that will be really interesting to watch.
00:55it would open up if it does end up passing all the chambers and necessary steps. It would open up
01:01each of the three casinos in Massachusetts to have up to two online gambling operators along with their
01:08sports betting options. Also for untethered licenses. So it could be a pretty vibrant market up there in
01:14Boston. We'll see what happens. This of course, as I just mentioned, is a very active regulatory body.
01:20The Massachusetts gaming commission chair Jordan Maynard actually just came out recently and called
01:26on a federal framework for advertising, which of course we know as we've talked about on the show
01:31up in Canada, similar legislation to that has been filed. So we'll see if Maynard's call could bring
01:38any sort of excitement to that. He also says there should be a national exclusion network, not
01:44just state by state. So, you know, it's interesting to have that dichotomy of the regulator calling for more
01:49regulation, more, you know, he said the online gambling industry has gone off the highway.
01:54There's no guardrails on it and things like that. So very interesting to see that state now considering even more
02:00online gambling, uh, as their top regulators saying, hold on, there's a lot going on here that we need
02:06to keep in check. Um, also of note up in new England is the main, uh, house and Senate have approved
02:13a online casino bill, just kind of quickly out of, out of the blue. Um, and it is going to an
02:20appropriations table, which every legislation that has a fiscal note needs to weirdly 10% of only 10% of
02:27bills that go to the approach appropriations table end up passing. So Maine, uh, it has some tough
02:32sliding ahead, but yeah, new England online casino this year seems, uh, to be pretty active, apparently.
